Simple enough. But if I may, I'd like to know the reasoning behind it.
Does anybody carry a spare injector?

Generally speaking, if a injector craps out on you you can limp the engine several hundred miles easily. It's not the end ofthe world of it fails on you as the engine will still run.
I'm very picky about maintenance too but sometimes stuff just happens. I often find myself 200+ miles from home with no parts stores or shops around if I broke down.
Wont it wash a cylinder down and load the oil with fuel?
I went ahead and bought 1 new injector for my tool kit in my truck. I'm going to wrap it up in a rag and tape it up with duct tape to protect it.

I prefer to carry a spare truck... just keepin it around to **** parts off of.

It might wash the cylinder down, but you should be able to make it to a parts store a hundred miles away. With that said, an injector doesnt take up a lot of room, so carrying one in the truck is no big thing.

The question about removing the injecter line and attaching a catch can for the fuel... Nope.. Heres why. So an injecter is stuck open. Problem with tis is its an opening to the combustion chamber and all the heat and pressure that comes with that. So removing the hard line will allow much of the heat from the cylinder to push up out the injecter. That heat will burn off the return line plastic cap. This has been seen but only a few times. A member posted that his cap had a hole burned thru it and was wondering why. There will be some cylinder wash down but its not going to be a full flow of fuel. there is only one fuel pulsehappening per 4 strokes of the piston. Its nothing like opening up the fuel filter schrader valve. Very little fuel is ever seen coming out of the injecter.

Ok you have 8 injectors and you have one with a poor spray pattern, your MPG is down and you get smoke at idle and the engine is not as smooth as before. How do you single out the offending injector? crack lines until the smoke at idle cleans up?

Many times you can feel the injector lines and one will feel HOT, this is your culprit. If none feel hot, you can likely limp home and start work there.
