Do we have a source for the mesh guard on the intake manifold?

Out of curiosity, how do these end up getting damaged? I’d assume that it could be a sign that the previous owners ran the motor without an intake often enough to suck debris to damage the screen…?

Sometimes the air cleaner can catch the screen while you're taking it off. Sometimes turbos leave so little room to remove the hat, even with the turbo pedestal loose, that the hat will grab it when you try to remove that. Other times, someone may just be a bull in the china closet and do that type of thing all the time.

I'm good now, Skylab, Goat fixed me up. IDIBronco nailed it: the air cleaner caught the edge of the screen as I was lifting it. No comment about the bull in the china shop bit.

I don`t know it makes any difference, but I remove the Lid first then the Bucket. So far in 8 years haven`t messed it up. Withe AC line and other wires etc... going across the edge of the Cowel area, makes it tight removing the Filter assy.
