If you're limited to the 10-12psi that is considered safe with stock head bolts is there much of a power gain possible with adding an intercooler?

I never dynod mine after the intercooler, I’ve had it for a little over a month, but I run 12 max on a 7.3 with a banks aftertaste turbo and usually pull around 8psi when towing 10.5k horse trailer. I’ve noticed more power when pulling hard and lower egts 200-300 lower. I even find I can pull the same hill at the same speed with a lb or 2 less boost pressure. I don’t hot rod around so I’ve never noticed any turbo lag. Also get a little better towing milage. Maybe 1-2mgs. Not much but every little bit helps. My set up was cheap eBay with about $400 in to it

Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
Yrs ago I snagged an intercooler off EBay, off a '97-'98-'99 or so PowerStroke for $100.
I got it mted in front of AC condenser & radiator. Spaced out my grill & lower painted stuff about 1" to 1 1/4" & left the headlite assy alone. Left radiator & radiator support alone.
Redid my bumper. Spaced it out 3-4 inches as well as plasma cut holes in it, found the black plastic trim that goes in/on about a '93-'94 bumper & mted that in my bumper for air holes. (since then I found a '94 FIDIT bumper)
Ordered an EBay intercooler tubing kit (IIRC about a 2 1/2" kit or so) and the other fittings to hook up the PS cooler. IIRC the PS Cooler is about 3" or less inlet/outlet.
Did some modifying on each side of radiator in the radiator support for the PS Cooler to fit & mount.
All these years with cooler mounted, tubing kit, etc, etc & my world stays soooo full of doooo'es & Honey Do's I still never got it hooked up yet!!!!
