It had a leak from what I thought was the heater core, replaced the heater core, and the leak seemed to move. I havent notice my temp changing much or over heating , but have noticed my fan will spin freely, a smell of coolant, coolant pooling up on top of the block under air filter and my heater doesn't work at all. What is going on?

Can you get a picture of where it is pooling. May be from hose riser on water pump blowing back to intake. Check for leak above hose clamp on riser connection going to heater.

I had a coolant leak once that a shop diagnosed as coming from the left front freeze plug. I found out that it was actually from the water pump, blowing back onto the engine and running around the corner! Haven't added a drop since I put a new pump on.

These leaks can be tricky to find because they rarely drip straight down. Keep looking. Also get a coolant pressure tester and pump 'er up to a few psi. Will make a leak easier to spot.

oh, and welcome to the forum :)
