after all that testing yesterday,
and after I filled each cylinder with pressure trying to find an issue.
at 6 pm I decided to pressurize the system overnight again.
I went to bed at 10 with 15 psi, now its dropped about a pound and a half. 6 hours later.
makes me think something else is going on.
gonna wait till day break and see if theres water on the ground.

maybe its the weather? it was a good 80 degrees when I put it on, and its about 57 now.

Try going up to 20psi, see if it makes the leak easier to detect. If the system is OK, it shouldn't hurt anything. If you have a delicate heater core or rad bypass them.

I wonder if it had to do with temperatures like you said. When the engine is up to running temp, and then cools down something somewhere expands and contracts enough to cause a small leak?

finally, after much deliberation, and family stuff going on, I finally got it somewhat back together.
engine is buttoned up, and ready to fire.
I went to fire it up before I installed the cooling system, just to make sure it pops.
and the batteries are dead.
hopefully it will be on the road again today.

cross your fingers, PLEASE!

I'll cross my fingers and toes but I draw the line at testicles. Testicular torsion is no laughing matter.

that's a little too "below the belt" for me Mike LOL

I got her fired up. this time I gave the lifters 1 full turn of pre load, vs. the 3/4 turn last time.

got it to fire, and tickticktick -cuss

but I cracked each injector and it went away! :D
everything seems good so far,
I got my overflow bottle installed, and its not the one I ordered.

thing is super small, but itll be ok for now.
plans on ordering header material for the coupe soon, so ill get a piece of 4" SS and make my own.

So much for the luster! The inner fenders need to be painted again.
Lesson learned.

Lesson will be learned if it seals....otherwise it is a conundrum.

I did drive the hell out of her today, and temp never rised above 195.
Alhambrah drinking water in her.
shouldn't it run about 200-210?

Unless you put a hotter thermostat in, the stock thermostat opens at 192 degrees. My 6.9L sits between 190 and 195 unless she's being worked hard or driving at low speed with the A/C on (i.e. stuck in traffic -cuss ). I've never seen the water temp go above 215 or so; usually at 210, the engine-driven fan kicks in and immediately cools the engine down ;Sweet

Here's to hoping you got this licked once and for all!!

I never did read what caused the second leak Brian. Can you explain what you found???
About the factory thermostats. the BEGIN to open at 192 and are fully open at 212.. Thats a working stat.
