Just cleaning the injectors won't do much, unless there's carbon/shmoo causing a poor spray pattern.

Before having them clean anything best to see and ask how they do this. If you have been running any fuel treatment you wont need a cleaning. If you HAVE NOT been running a fuel treatment start doing it. Best to double the dose the first time to clean out all the "stuff". Or do the cheap easy cleaning. Next fuel filter change fill the new filter with auto trans fluid. Get engine running and listen for the engine sound to change. Shut down the engine and let sit over night. Next day run the engine hard like towing or hauling something heavy. ATF has great cleaning actions. Yes.. We can run our idi engines on straight engine oil or ATF or most hydraulic oils.

ATF is good, but I prefer Sea Foam, little expensive, but does a hell'va job cleaning. Just do the same as ican suggested but use Sea Foam.

Sea Foam $7 or $8 a can.

If the machine shop doesn't have a Sonic cleaning system, it's useless for them to do it.

If you do take it to them, they should adjust the pop and test them. About $200.

Just a word of caution here... Never pour any fuel type additive directly down the intake. Our idi engine runs on any type fuel that it can suck into the cylinders. Bad part is pouring "fuel" down the intake most definitely cause a run away engine where the injection pump can't control the rpm because you poured fuel directly into it. Years ago a member was thinking he could clean the intake by pouring Sea Foam directly into the intake. He crated an engine rpm run away. Said it scared the hell out of him and he barely got away from it before it finally went back to idle. Our injection pumps control the rpm by cutting back on the fuel being pumped to the injectors. Never bypass the injection pump governor by pouring fuel into the intake. U tube has plenty of fuel related run away vids. Some are really hilarious to watch too.
