Brake proportioning valve

The one on my 87 F250 has stuck and burned up the rear brakes today. I can loosen the line at the valve and the brakes release.

Where can I get a new one? Everything shows 77-86... Not 87.

I haven't looked into this lately, but you used to be able to buy aftermarket, adjustable ones. Were they inexpensive? Nope, but they did the job.

This on has 4 wires that go to it. I assume part of the abs.

RABS = Rear Anti-lock Brake System.

If you like your anti lock brakes you can replace it. If you haven't felt them shudder in years then just pull that big plug on the right side in that picture and take out the spring. Then reinstall the plug. This will disable the RABS. It'll act like a vehicle without any ABS at all, so do some testing and please don't tailgate.

Worst case you have something else going on and it's free to try to fix. If it works it's free and if not it doesn't take long. Don't forget to bleed it from right rear to left rear to RABS afterwards.

Ok it is fixed. O'riley had a remanufactured unit for $139+tax. I am not a fan of Cardon products but they are the only game in town. We will see if the quality is any good.
