That’s a bad booster for sure. Also while doing all this make sure your canister doesn’t have any holes in it.

Canister, meaning the coffee can with the small vacuum line going to it?
My 86 doesn`t have one but the 85 does. It`s for the Cruise Control I believe. The 85 has Cruise.

The coffee can stores vacuum. The more stored vacuum the more braking you have of the motor goes out. I got rid of all my vacuum junk except brakes and got a bigger better canister just for the brakes. It makes a huge difference especially when maneuvering a trailer at idle while using the brakes.

Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
I've moved more & more away from NAPA & going more & more with Orilley's....prices mostly. Got accounts with both, & couple others in town too. But Orilleys got free tools!

I got HF vac gauge in my rigs.
I moved my tomato can years ago out from engine bay & put it down on frame & added 2nd tomato can in series/parallel also. (or whatever way you want to call it, they're hooked up) Made lots more room under there too!!!
I installed '97 PSD Intercooler yrs ago & moved my grill, bumper, etc, etc out several inches for IC room.
Then moved my windshield wiper waterbottle & radiator overflow bottle out of there too. Wrapped both up then mounted them down behind bumper. Made lots more room under there too!!!

I know what you mean. Plus napa is kinda crappy IMO due to being mostly franchise stores... so dealing with returns can be crap. I did return a bad universal ignition switch from one to another last year though. Bought in Utah and returned in Idaho, after I got a good one from O'Reilly.

A couple months ago, a new lifetime warranty starter for my mom's 03 taurus was much cheaper at Napa, so she bought one there for me to put in. Usually Napa is the most expensive.

Alright hello again guys, i got my new brake booster for 150 bucks at Msh (canadian o’reillys i guess), installed it today, first of all the rod in the brake booster is not moving all around, and no hissing from the pivot, it’s a little bit smaller so i guess i got the one for smaller than 7000 pounds but i thought it would work too, just not as much, but now the pedal feels less squishy, it’s more stiff but not enough, feels like it’s braking the same as before, so i assume the booster was definitly bad but i feel like there’s something else, i’ll try too get a vacuum gauge from napa tomorrow

To get really good brakes convert to hydro boost. Problem solved.
While I agree. with you the stock system works just fine when up keep and adjustment is done. I’ve never felt like I need more brakes. My 1990 drum rear stops just as good as my disk brake super duty.
