Hello, i need to change my power steering pump, and i have a question to which one i should pick since there’s 3 types, one with 1 hose or two, so just wondering if you know what’s the good one? Truck is a 1992 f250 2wd, e4od with a 7.3 idi, converting to 4wd soon

Generally, the power steering pumps have two hoses. One is high pressure and it comes off of the side of the reservoir. The other is the low pressure (return) and comes off of the bottom.

Be sure to raise the front end, fill the reservoir with P/S Fluid and turn the wheel lock to lock several times before starting the engine. You might also consider NOT starting the engine for 30 minutes after you get it bled out. This should be enough time to get the air bubbles out of the system.
Unless you don't mind the whine in which case, just fire it off and be happy.

Some differences are the pumps for hydroboost brakes is basically the same but the plastic reservoir has two low pressure returns. If you have vacuum brake booster then you only need the one return

New pump install is also a good time to flush the system and add a filter on the return line. I think I used a 3/8 barbed elbow to connect to the return line and some 3/8 tubing down to a bucket.

Installed the pump and everything, never had a good power steering like that! Only thing is i ordered a new high pressure line since old one was leaking, now i’ve got the new one in hand, i’ve seen threads about the teflon o-ring and i understand, but there was also a o-ring on the outside diameter where the high pressure bolts to, is it necessary, and wich size if any of you know?
