Hmmm... that's not good. I had a couple bolts that were awful oily up in the threaded section.... I haven't pulled the valve covers yet. Maybe it wicked up into them or maybe there is oil some place there shouldn't be. Either way, I'm glad this is my core engine.

That's what I was thinking. Could've just crept in. Or maybe someone at some point used antiseize or something.

The oily side of an IDI is the outside. Probably valve cover gaskets.
