...but not quite.
In todays specialized off-road climate, my old workhorse doesn't stand out in any one area, but still does most things pretty well.

Nice Jeep! Give us some specs on it. I have had several jeeps and off roaded them all. My best was a 77 CJ-5, 35"-40"tires depending on what I was doing, 327,T18,Spicer 20,D44/Detroit L. front, AMC/Summers bros axles & spool in rear, both had GO Rino truss/skid plates, Ramsey 10k winch in rear, Koeing PTO 25K winch in front. Had to redo the 327 for crawling, cuz it was a late 60's Vette 327/350hp motor when I got it. Man it was scary fast!

Started life in 1947. Tub is a bit battered & bondoed, but the hood still has the "WILLYS" raised letters.
-Wagoneer frame
-44 rear, 3/8 DOM tubes, Summers spool, Moser axles, 4:88
-44 front, 3/8 DOM long side tube, Detroit, Moser axles, 4:88
-Stance is a bit wider than stock, but not a lot as our trails here are narrow. Trusses are removed. Loose dirt and shale on the East side can get deep in the summer. We now truss from the top when possible.
-National Springs, progressive rate. Cool in '90, but way cooler stuff now. Can go 3 shocks per corner, used to be desert racer, but no more.
-355 ci LT-1 SBC, Toploader 4-sp, Dana 20 two lever
-40 gal fuel cap.
-Boggers on Champion beadlocked Ultra 64's
-Warn 8274 w/150' 5/16 cable. Sometimes it's a long ways to a pull point.
-Enuf spare stuff that it has never left the hills on a strap, but has pulled more than a few others out.

On yard tractor detail, pending a freshening. More interest in riding quads with the kids than fighting with the law over how far my tires stick out beyond the fenders when on the gravel forest service roads between camp and trailhead.

Even with all the "High Tech" 3-4-5 Link suspensions with 1/4 elliptic, coil ect... It is VERY hard to beat a set of good (Such as your National) Leaf springs. Simple, and flex very nicely with no wheel hop, pinion angle, ect.. problems. Many hard core Rockcrawlin TJ's are swapping to rear Leafs!! Peace Murfman

No doors, no heater, sub freezing temps, and some snow. Good thing we had refreshments to keep us warm :D
