Those are great numbers for a N/A truck. Given that you're running 37's, even with extra gearing to make up for them, that engine has more than the 175 it was factory rated at.

Big tires, especially aggressive ones, take alot of power to turn. I had a CTD that made over 400 rwhp pick up ~20hp by ditching my 35" Baja Claws for 285 Cooper ATR's.

yeah, i wish they did! i forgot to mention that when mel went to do my timing he had his step stool at the front of the scout, then i poped the hood and when it opened "backwards" (your silly fords are backwards!!! ) he was kind of surprised. he was thinking it was going to be more difficult, but once he got to it, it turned out to be just as easy, if not easier! them harvester's always work with you! that's why i own 'em!!! i was really neat to watch "the man" work his magic, had the scout purring like a kitten in no time and had the finesse of a surgeon on my lady! haha ;p not i have the infamous yellow tape badge to show it was timed correctly by Mel himself! thanks again Mel, the more i drive it the more i realize how much better it is! i can get a start out on the bottom of the hill by my garage and crest it over 50 mph in 4th gear with almost NO smoke and low egt's! before it'd crest it at like 40 mph in 4th with me fogging out the road and watching the pyro like a hawk.

ok i was skimming through dieselpower's sept. 2010 issue and came across the section of the water/**** addition to a turbo 6.9L they got. it built about 9 psi of boost and put out less numbers than my n/a 6.9L.... what's going on here??? their diesel: 125 HP 203 FT LBS, mine 127 HP 245 FT LBS. sorry for the crappy graph i took it with my droid of the mag.

Those boost numbers were pretty low on that truck. I can see about 10psi on a hot day at 2000rpm's in 4th (if WOT from 1100rpm's)

I would like to point out that I do not in good conscience recommend running a Moose Pump on a non-turbo motor. I usually talk my customers out of it. In fact, Jon sort of tricked me when he ordered it, as he told me he was gonna put a turbo on it, and since his engine wasn't even built yet I didn't doubt he would. I didn't let on, but I was a bit ruffled that there was no turbo in there when I went to time it. Comments such as "no problem i expected more out of it to being as its moose pumped cammed bored and whatever else " are one of the reasons why. I feel it damages the pumps reputation, and there is an automatic assumption that a turbo is on board when people hear "Moose Pump". Compared to other trucks that have dyno'd there is 60 HP at least waiting to be unleashed with an air stuffer. I think a Baby Moose would have done just as well on this truck. Thanks for the info though. At least you have proven that a Moose Pump does work on an N/A. Something I have never tested.

Yea when in the beginning stages of the engine build, and purchase of the moosepump I had all intentions of a stuffer going on, weither single or twin. Finally as a rolling truck I realized my goal of a springtime finish would not be met waiting for funds for a turbo, plus I was thinking simplicity for the trail. Now that its all said and done it meets every expectation I had for it. I would love a turbo, or custom fabbed centrifugal supercharger, but I don't think id get full potentional out of it. As the truck sits now I CANNOT get all the power to the ground, the 37 inch tires spin as if they're donuts. my mind likes the idea of one of them centrifugal superchargers, if I happen to find one....well ya never know! I watch the pyro closely knowing its more fuel than the N/A motor will burn. It helps keep tailgaters at bay!

Yea the comeapart left a wheeze of smoke and didn't sound so good. The scout stayed steady and sounded awsome under load! Definately man, always up for wheelin! Yea I was thinking about those prochargers, really all I need is the head unit and pulleys because ill have to fab my own pipes and brackets.....hmmmm....
