this made a big difference in my truck. boost is down at all engine speeds, about 4psi loss at max boost and about 1psi loss at 2k but power is up a bunch. max egt before unloaded was about 1000 now its pretty tuff to get 850. watching the boost gauge the turbo looks pretty lazy, but it must be moving more volume even at o psi because it has much more low end than before. also noticed that the fan clutch is on alot now, and when it is power comes up and smoke and egts go down. it took alot of time to get it all put on but it was worth every second of it.

sorry no pics, just a nonwastegated ats. about the only difference in my install was mounting the 6.0 cooler upside down, fits much better that way. also mounted the 6.0 trans cooler in front of that. if im lucky this thing wont melt down when i tow due to all the stuff in front of the radiator.

That's a great project, bummer on the no pics. I have that same turbo and love it, you know this means now you can stuff more fuel in there without popping a head gasket or wasting it all as heat or smoke...and that means you really need to get one of Mel's Moose Pumps or a DB4/DB2 hybrid. I wanna see someone push an intercooled truck to the brink! But I don't really want to be the guinea pig with my old reused 6.9 stock head bolts and 50,000 miles on the head gaskets.

turn up the fuel and you will get some boost back. These engines really like the cold air.
as long as your fan is working it should be ok, that is my biggest problem, crappy fan clutches.

Congrats. Sounds like similar results to mine. No pictures though? Bad human. No donut. LOL

Remember, boost is a measure of resistance. Cooling the air down that much can lower the temps enough to make the air more dense (thus less spread out) causing it to have lower levels of boost. The volume is the same, but since the air is cooler, you do not see the problems of higher EGTs. Now you can throw more boost at it and work with that by adding more fuel.

yes I deserve a swift kick in the nuts for pics. sorry. Im holding off turning the pump up to see towing difference with the cooler alone. after this weekend itll get cranked again. Id like to put a different turbo on, but i cant find how to figure for the extra volume the cooler ads. Im thinking maybe a gated stroker turbo if i can make it fit under the hood. 20psi is more boost than i need, but I want it to be absolutely smoke free. I wonder if these pumps will push enough fuel to get that turbo to 20 psi?

a moose pump can make 20 psi more than likely
