The head was done properly.....

And the precombustion chamber cups milled correctly, too. I trust the shop that did at least that part of the work.

Another diesel owner locally recommended me to another place. I'm taking it there on Monday. The service writer knew his stuff, and they have the equipment necessary to do the tune, and also examine the injectors, etc. I'm going to take it there.

Then, I'm likely to have words with the other shop, whose reputation seemed pretty good, and kept it for a long, long, long, long time, producing results that weren't thrilling.

I prefer to work in reality; results count.

Thanks for the guidance so far; you corroborate what I've been thinking. There are only so many tools a guy can own, and all the rest of my vehicles are 4cyl gas. I'm learning quickly.... and may have to invest in them anyway, but not right now. Not after getting soaked for the current state of affairs.
