From what I know, there is a pre '85 precup with a very large throat. Comes from '83 and '84 6.9s.

Did I take too much material off the skirts of the pistons when resurfacing the skirts using scotchbrite? I tried to get the scuff marks smooth so it wouldn't jam in the block.

So I'm about to install precups and have the heads machined. Should I use loctite 620,640 or 680 to keep the cups from getting ripped out by the cutting blade. I know 680 and 620 Loctite is "thicker" while 640 is "water thin"
Also 640 only cures on active metals. And the precup is ceramic...
So I recently ordered 8 new 7.3 cups and 8 new 6.9 cups (that's right, brand new) and I'm wondering, which will make the engine have more power, and which will make the engine louder? the 7.3 or 6.9 precup? these are going into 7.3 heads.
So I'm about to bring my heads to the machine shop. And I need to get my precups installed before I do so.
Does anyone have a set of all 8 precups? used or new it doesn't matter. As long as they have "88" stamped on them and they are not cracked past the fire ring.
