On a Carrier pump screen/filter which way does the diesel flow?

Thanks for the insight Mike, I assume this type of filter would not have a round shape? More oval maybe? or one end smaller and the other end of the oblong shape larger? Just a life-time learning kind of question. I suppose it could be round? Then one would have to identify it only by looking...

On a Carrier pump screen/filter which way does the diesel flow?

I am cleaning mine in kerosene then brake cleaner then blowing it out with compressed air, so my question is which way would I blow it out if I wanted to be blowing in the reverse direction of the fuel flow?

Rough running at low speeds after tank fill up of diesel

Sorry, I did get it wrong, I fill up at 1/2 a tank as I do run out at 1/4 tank (Showerhead problem), its never been under 1/2 a tank for a long time. I do not hear any weird noises when I remove the filler cap.

Rough running at low speeds after tank fill up of diesel

I fill up every two weeks or so from known local stations (A small local chain), I am not ruling out air intrusion but since its an intermittent problem I am thinking its not air which would be all the time?

Rough running at low speeds after tank fill up of diesel

As of right now yes, but I am asking in case this is a sign of something I can act on now to avoid a future problem.

Rough running at low speeds after tank fill up of diesel

First time it happened I cleaned the Carrier screen and changed the filter, filled filter with ATF, problem was gone by then so I thought that fixed it but now its back. First time was about a month ago, I have not been driving much lately. Its just happening after a fill up, I do fill up...

Rough running at low speeds after tank fill up of diesel

Lately, twice, after filling the tank (I only run on the front, rear does not work) my engine runs rough nearly stalling, If I keep the revs up she keeps running and after a little while this goes away. Is this a sign of impending doom? Any ideas on what I should look at? This my 1983

I think I need an exorcist

93blk, someone else here on OB plumbed in manual valves, that might work for you. IIRC they were three way valves, two of them were used, they were plumbed to the left of the drivers seat on the floor. He took great pics and did a nice work up on it, its here in OB somewhere. Sorry I do not...

I think I need an exorcist

When I installed my Carrier pump from Gen Lightning, I assume your Facet is the same pump?, The screen filter had a habit of clogging for a while, the screen would not look too clogged through the bowl but I would clean it and get going again. I assume I was pulling crud from my rear tank that...

    Snap-On MT480 timing meter

I agree with FordF250HDXLT, I do not see the pulse clamp or the magnetic pickup, I prefer the pulse method, I do not like to remove a glow plug to time and I think I read here somewhere that the pulse method is more accurate than the lummy method, not sure though, my memory is not so good anymore.

NOT AN AD- Information - 70% off Wix filters local store told about unadvertised sale

Wow Oog, I did not realize you are right here!, Hi Neighbor! The Vienna one told me about it but I understand it is going to be at all Bumper to Bumpers everywhere. They only tell the local farmers/ranchers about this sale. Kind of odd because I am not an farmer or rancher, I did go in...

NOT AN AD- Information - 70% off Wix filters local store told about unadvertised sale

I hope this is OK here cause its a great deal and most people do not know about it. My local Bumper to Bumper told me they are having their annual unadvertised Wix sale at 70% off. They warned me to order early, before the start of the sale and they would do their best to have my filters on...

Truck died pulling into gas station

Your batteries might be getting low by now, charge them up as your truck will not start if the engine is turning slow and you will just ruin your starter... When you crank, do it at WOT - Wide open throttle

    The hunt for air begins...

I found my weep hole by using a mirror on a telescoping stick, its at the bottom back of the IP, below all the hard lines, IIRC. If its weeping it will be filling your valley pan with diesel, draining to the back of the engine, mine dripped onto my starter. Told me it was new IP time.

Facet/Carrier lift pump on inner fender. Good idea?

Here is a pic of my pump before I installed it. I made a bracket out of 1/8" or 1/4" steel. I mounted it to the top of the fender where the vacuum "ball" is and relocated the ball. I can take a pic of it installed if you would like.

Any injectors that had caps that were not seated properly will most likely leak... You will know, hopefully no leaks

    New IP time!

As I recall the procedure for installing caps on injectors: Coat o-rings in vaseline (before or after install - I forgot, I think after) (You may want to buy/use new ordinary o-rings for now, you should be getting Viton o-rings in the kit coming to you) Install top o-ring first, slide lower...

    New IP time!

If we assume that your new injectors are popping at the correct psi and the old injectors are popping lower than yes there will be a difference in time. Said another way, as the springs wear out in these injectors over time, say 30 to 50,000 miles, it changes the timing of the engine.

    Whats Missing Here

Now I partially know why some PO put a Cummings fuel filter head in my truck, no schrader or any of those other fancy things this has, it just filters. Thanks for the tip Sam, pick n pull just moved up on my "to do" list.

Running out of diesel at half a tank, used to be 1/4 tank, Front tank

Three years ago I could run my front tank down to E-Empty, about two years ago I "ran out" of diesel at 1/4 tank, from reading here I was pretty sure it was a "shower head" problem and put it on my list of things to do (Its a long list). Now in the last few months I have twice "ran out of...

That worked, thanks 44!, that pre filter was clogged, I shot high powered brake cleaner through it and am soaking it in gas right now and agitating it every so often, then I am going to blow it out with compressed air, any other ideas on how to clean that filter?
