Use a strap wrench if you have access depending on where you put it. It is a really tough plastic

Mine was very tight when I first got it, never reinstalled it as tight as it came from the factory for fear of the same problem your having

That worked, thanks 44!, that pre filter was clogged, I shot high powered brake cleaner through it and am soaking it in gas right now and agitating it every so often, then I am going to blow it out with compressed air, any other ideas on how to clean that filter?
