I was going to dump my ashes from my wood burning stove at the city dump. I got the truck started and went inside to cleanout the stove. The truck was running for at least 5 minutes, maybe closer to 10 and I heard it miss. I started to get up and go back outside when it cleared up. I kept cleaning out the stove and it started missing again. I was done with the stove so I went outside just in time for it to quit running as I stepped out the door. I tried the starter. Nothing. No fuel at the filter schrader valve. By this time, I'm really scratching my head because I dumped PLENTY of Howe's in both tanks before it got cold like this. I pulled the filter off and it was full. My e pump didn't build any pressure so I have to conclude that it's gelled. I tried the transfer pump from the rear tank into the front one and all I got from it was a stream that lasted for a few seconds. That should have been fine since I poured around 32 oz. in it and I had trouble at the pump at the station so I didn't get any fresh fuel into it. There's probably around 20 or so gallons in it. I called a guy from work who was out of town and asked him to get me a bottle of Diesel 911 to bring to work with him tomorrow. All I know is that I wasn't impressed with Howe's before and I'm DONE with Howe's now! It's supposed to be 29 tomorrow and if I can't get the truck running again, I may be stuck at home until it gets well above freezing next week.
I use Power Service, and what with the “better” fuel these days, if it gets below zero, then I’ll add Diesel 911 as an additive.

I want to buy #1 diesel dammit! For whatever phawkin reason, it is no longer sold at fuel stations in my part of Kansas, ever since 2-3 years ago.

If diesels are gellin up at minus 40, that’s one thing, but the chitty new fuel that gels at 0 phawkin sucks. Need to go beat some corporates *****

I'm probably going to switch to Power Service. It's easier to find than Stanadyne around here. I was using Howe's just because it's probably about the most widely available around here. I did put a couple of metal buckets with the hot coals out of my stove underneath the front tank hoping that will help. The thing is that I've never had trouble with running an anti gel before. This is just plain weird. The guy called and said that our local TSC didn't have any Diesel 911. That's HORRIBLR! I'm sure that it's not the TSC chain itself, but it has something todo with the fat B-word that runs this store.

I usually put a pint of power service white bottle additive into each tank with each fill up. Also a pint of Walmart 2 cycle oil, each tank each time. We can only get #1 diesel here year round. In recent years we've only had a few days where it would have gelled, but better safe than sorry.

@IDIoit, I have a front frame bit, and now I have a plan for it. Someday. When I get my other projects finished. Probably never. But still, it's a plan!

I use either power service or standadyne, they're both locally always available, usually just go for what's cheaper.
Has anyone used R99 diesel yet? I have in my audi for the past several thousand miles, seems to be a bit more peppier than using a bio blend.

R99 is basically all I can get around here now. Truck seems to run fine on it. I add a dose of the hotshots secrete to the tank every fill up. We dont get that cold around here though. Not sure how the gelling properties are compared to other diesel types.

From what I'm reading, R99 has a higher cetane rating than #2, so there's that. But it's essentially a synthetic diesel made from veggie oil without the bad parts of bio, so it'll still gel up

From what I've read, it's only sold in California and Oregon so far. I'm certain the Biden cronies will be pushing it on the rest of us as fast as they can.

I think Diesel# 1 is Diesel #2 with kerosene added. Don`t know the ratio though.

I don`t know which Diesel they sell here in Nevada. Need to check next time Iam fueling up.

Just hit me, week ago last Sunday when I couldn`t get that Cotton pickin Mercedes 240D started, The fuel might have been jelled. Was down to single digit that night.
Started crankin on her at 8:30am and finally started at 2:30PM. She was sitting outside all night.
I have 3 different Diesels additives out in the shop. :frustrate

My Brain must have been gelled that morning.

It was the local transit authorities that were pushing to run it, I guess they got a deal on the fuel. Part of the reason why R99 is already Cummins approved, all the gilligs are Cummins powered
