That is how it was mounted on my truck when I first got it, no one had the right fuel filter for it when I needed one so I went to the junk yard and bought a different set up that the fuel filter fit, only cost me 5 dollars for it. I still have the same set mount as this picture in my garage I think.

Yes this is the filter mount from a van. This could be a van engine or not. The van engines had a much different oil cooler header setup and the drivers side exhaust manifold was different. But to make that van engine fit any truck all you do is change those 3 items.

Takes the same filter as the pickup-truck head of the same year. Good way of running primary-secondary filter setup on the cheap with factory parts - you set up the 7.3 head with the water separator and the medium-micron filter as a primary, and the 6.9 head with a small-micron filter is the secondary. Both heads are available for both applications, so mix and match as needed. This particular one the OP pictured is the 7.3 head with all the bells and whistles, to make that into the 2-stage setup one needs the filter tower for a 6.9 pickup truck and also the IP feed line from said truck. Ours is set up with a 7.3 truck head as primary and 6.9 van head as secondary, uses van IP feed line. Works well, filters are easy to change, and as soon as one of us actually remembers/bothers to make a steel crossover line with the OEM Parker fittings it will look all factory too :D

Sounds like a good idea and a nice set up. I am going to be swapping the engine out of my truck though so I wont be using any idi set ups.

All idi engines will time correctly off either number 1 or 4 cylinder. Actually if you knew the cylinder offset you could program it into the J33300-A meters and time off any cylinder. I can tell you this about timing. I had a person contact me telling me they could only reach 270 degrees advance when using my meter. So I asked what cylinder they were using for the hard line clamp.. Answer was the first cylinder on the drivers side because that is number one....:D
Well after I explained that each cylinder has the number cast into the intake port runner near the 2 bolts for the head and that the passenger side is the odd numbered he finally saw the issue he was having. Trying to time off number 2 cylinder makes for a very different timing degree reading. This is why I give out my cell number when a member rents my meter. I did not wake up one morning knowing all this either. Its years of hands on and making mistakes. Then its passed on to others. Its how we roll here.:angel:
