I think I have seen that truck on youtube. Is it a white short box?

I believe it was a white Xcab with a short box (but it was old body style, not classic body style). the guy that built it sold it and shortly after the new owner blew the crankshaft out the bottom from over boosting on a cracked block (thats the theory) but the guy that built it was building another....... he did reliably drive it before he sold it and had a dyno sheet to back his claim.

If he will share the details with you why not write it down and post it here?
With his permission of course.
If he will allow pics that would be even better.

You bet, I'll ask him when I go back home in a few weeks. He's a really nice guy. What I'd like to do is video tape him or something because he goes off rambling about stuff he did to the injection pump and his custom propane kit, and he talks so fast you just stand there in disbelief. lol

I am not trying ti single this guy out, I think he is a fairly well developed engine builder. I know a lot can be mistaken over a keyboard....tone has a LOT to do with what we say and how people understand it.

I know some forum rules were broken, but you gotta admit, this thing should haul the mail when the timing gets set right and all the little ends are sewn together!!!

By far, the most interesting thing about this build is the injection pump. ;Sweet

Bless his heart for spending more money on an IDI then any sane person would.

My biggest question would be: how much is that pump? I am not gonna lie, I am pretty envious of that pump. :D

Hopefully he does not try to feed us "bean soup" this time around. LOL

His avatar is a bit creepy. cookoo

As far as I know Nobody has ran that big of a camshaft profile in a IDI.:dunno We will soon se one in a decompressed engine and a stock compression engine. This info is what I am waiting for. The comparison between the two builds will give alot of info on the cams abillity to help the decompressed engine build dynamic compression at low engine speed. I think the stock compression build will have higher egts from the compression alone and the engine will have a shorter power curve. Just my 2 cents I think both builds are great:hail and the timing is perfect for me cause i havent built mine yet..:sly..and I will use this info to make changes in my build. But My build has another delay -cuss My wifes 2001 mitsu eclipse lost its timing belt ( GATES belt installed 36000 miles ago) and most of the valves are bent. I see a wrecking yard engine and a new mitsubishi belt on my shopping list now.

Gates does offer a very good warranty with the belt. Did you buy the belt kit or just the belt itself? I've had one kit failure at my shop and Gates covered the parts and labor. Drop me a pm and I can forward you the info on how to get this done.

He noted in his build that he got his pump and injectors for $1300 or so.

I think as far as the power curve goes, that racins build might have peak torque a bit sooner than NMB2s build cus of that higher compression. IMO it will have a tiny bit more torque down low but after NMB2s turbo lights it will have all the top end power you would ever want. Both builds will be awesome to see on the dyno regardless and will give good info to us.

As far as Racins having higher egts, they might be slightly higher but not by much. I would think that the higher compression would help burn the extra fuel down low thus keeping egts down. We will only know after they both drive it for a bit.

Also, sorry bout your belt. :(

Something wrong here... I still can't see anything. Most of the viedo is black. This may be a great build but... Not actually seeing something is not proving to me this is a working engine. It does sound great and I really want to actually see something. I'm not posting any longer on this topic...
