snaponprofile - what intercooler did you use and did you have to cut on the rad support? Do you have any pics of the intercooler?

7.3 PSD one. I just cut a little off, see pics.

would there be any benefit to wrapping the intercooler pipes??

IMO I would probably say no. I would think that it would keep some of the unwanted heat that would otherwise dissipate slightly as it travels through the pipes trapped. I would see no point. If you wanted it cooler even after the intercooler, you could do water/methanol too.

I did the same thing too but I still have problems with the boot coming off once in a while. Idk why though...:dunno

Use a t-bolt clamp and clean both surfaces with brake parts cleaner before attaching. If either of the surfaces are oily, it will slip off. When I clean them and then crank the mess out of the clamp, I can't pull the boot off.

Do you have a 2.75 inch boot?

I doubt it, it would only keep more heat in on the way to the intercooler; so in effect, the intercooler would have to work harder to cool hotter air. I would rather have the pipes give off some heat on the way to the cooler so the cooler has to work less. Thats how I look at it anyway.

I can't remember for sure but I do know the boot is a step down from 3". I'm pretty sure it is 2.75" though. Maybe it was just because of oil residue cus I have T-bolt style clamps on also. So maybe next time it pops off I'll just clean it like crazy then.

I have had a boot come off one time, and it was because I didnt clean it good enough when I had it apart.

That and at 12psi for long time.
