Ok guys so about two and a half weeks ago I was at my local auto store doing alittle bit of shopping And ran across some heat wrap so I figured wth.
Bought some heat wrap and stainless steel locking ties.
Next day pull my two up pipes off wrap them and reinstall them. Go for a test drive and wow I should have done that when I put the turbo in spooled much faster. Before hand boost was at 6 pounds 7 if really working it 80mph + now boost hits 8psi. 9psi really working it. Well worth the money and 10 minutes of my time to wrap those pipes.
Two questions tho. 1 how much will wrapping the down pipe make and 2. Been worrying about this one what do you do when it rains those things have got to get wet right?
Oh and there's was about a 100deg drop in egts full throttle around 80mph

seal it so the moisture trapped in it doesn't rot the pipes...

Header manufacturers will not warrenty them with header wrap.

Personally i'd just get it ceramic coated so it doesn;t rot.

edit: use the silicone header wrap spray. the same make of the wrap will sell the spray.

No point in wrapping the down pipe in your case. For some people the exhaust is so long and the pipe is so big that the exhaust gases will lose velocity and slug in the pipe. Again not in your case.

Look at the packaging for your wrap. Some of the higher temp wraps specifically state not to spray coat. The one I used on my subaru downpipe said not to coat. But my downpipe is atleast stainless.

I wrapped my crossover and got the same results you did, the reason the egt is lower is cause of more low speed boost.
My wrap kit had some silver ceramic paint that said to soak each layer of wrap.

Wrapped my crossover pipes, up pipe, and down pipe on my crew cab. Crazy quick spool. Huge difference between it and my F250, both have the same Banks turbo kit. I did not coat the wrap.

i want to port out my up-pipe on my ats system (they have a lot of meat, it couldn't hurt), have a 2.5" crosspipe made, and polish the inside of all the exhaust pre-turbo and wrap the crosspipe. the crosspipes catch a lot of wind, i would think that would be a big cause of energy loss

Is that heat wrap adhesive on one side, if not, how does it 'stay on'.
