I like this thread but what about the issue with the synthetic oil? I know many mechanics around here that would give Me their oil but I see it very difficult to get them to separate synthetic from regular oil, much less gear oil or brake fluid. What about all this?

Personally, I won't burn any synthetic's....Just doesn't seem to burn right or completely....Probably why it's better oil than the regular stuff, stands up better to heat and friction.

i personally havent had a problem burning synthetic but it has been in smaller amounts like 1 or 2 gallons a tank mixed in. i would be leary of gear oil and brake fluid would be a big no no for me.

maybe if you supplied your own jug they could dump the good stuff just for you in. trouble is i am not sure how they would tell the synthetic from the dyno. i have been thinking of talking with my local garages to see what i can turn up.

I put the six quarts of synthetic Mobile 1 rom my gasser's oil change in my truck with no issues, again pretty small doses but no ill effects.

I haven't tried some lighter weight gasser oil yet, all my fuel has been 15W-40 Rotella....I have to figure out what I can burn in the winter and still get it start...LOL

Has anyone tried centrifuging wmo to get rid of the particulates? Seems, theoretically like it would work.

the only deal with synthetic is it plugs up your filter membranes a little quicker then regualr oil not sure why I would guess it gets dirtier. I wish I had a centerfuge to try.

I think the synthetic doesn't bond the crap like dino oil does. If you let full synthetic sit for a month or 2 all the crap settles out and it looks like fresh clean oil. Dino oil doesn't do that.
