Theoretically, if I were to buy a diesel core support for a 92-97 truck, would I be able to cut off the bottom hoop and the side mounting points and weld it onto my core support? I know the way the fenders mount is different but from what I’ve seen on the forums it looks like the bottom hoop and side mounting points are the same?
Both mounts are gone on mine as well as a good section of the bottom hoop

My truck has factory ac (although it doesn’t work at the moment) but I would like

Actually, I just found this about 2 hours from me. Could I just use the bottom hoop off a bullnose core support? Looks like it has the mounting tabs for the condenser

@JackJ217 would it be possible to update your signature with your year/model? Might help a bit with fitment etc. forgive me if I’m just missing it on mobile - is your truck an OBS?

I’m in the same boat as you with my 89. It’s crazy that nobody makes a replacement core support for a diesel with a/c. I’ve been watching FB marketplace for years, but in the rust belt all the used ones are as bad as mine. What I think I’ll end up doing is getting a core support for a bricknose diesel without AC and buying a matching radiator, maybe a 4 core to make up for the smaller size. Frustrating for sure.

Crud. I think I just sent the old (good) core support I was saving to the srapyard a while back. It was for the short wide style (not AC), but it was in good shape. Darn insurance company telling me to clean up the yard, and I forgot that I was saving it. Ugg.

Insurance Co. on your rear end too?
AAA sent out a letter last month, said I had piles on Trash, old Appliances, wood cars etc.... and to clean it up and send them colored pictures.
Called or AA lady in Reno that we work through, she said it is a blanket letter they have been sending out to a lot of people.
Seems to be a country wide thing with a lot of company`s.

I have 4.25 acres, and out here in the Boonies, and with the vehicles listed below and other treasures.... not getting rid of anything..
Looking at another insurance Co., see where this goes, had to send in a picture of our Wood Stove area...

OH Yeah, I have 2 Core Supports out there also.

Spent a few days mating the top half of my original core support with the bottom half of one for a 92-97 diesel (BDY-FO1225249 - $260 from summit) and it worked.
Only slight differences is I had to expand the hole for the intake tube and I had to just slightly shave down the studs that the radiator sits on. The new core support is slightly narrower on the ends, but its just sheet metal so I made a couple pieces to make the transition less noticeable.
I had some gaps to fill… oops. But I made some plates to go on the back and strengthen it. I used the radiator mounting brackets to keep the spacing right between the two halves while cutting it and welding it.

I welded all the seams on the new part of it to keep moisture out as well, then got it sandblasted and powdercoated (for $80!!! Can’t beat that!)

Everything lines up perfectly. I’m in the process of getting my body lines evened out now, but its looking like its gonna work.
