So what did you do with your truck today?

Is that a universal caliper? Never seen one with a bleeder on top and bottom. Is it a kit to convert these axles? What do you do in liu of a parking brake? Big ol block of wood?

It is a caliper used from a 76 cadillac/GM models. It is a Ruff Stuff kit I cheaped out when I ordered it as E-Brake calipers were an option. Good kit though. The calipers are available at your favorite auto part suppliers though

Just find a rear axle out of a 03, 04 etc... that has the Disk brakes,
just redrill the Hubs to 8 on 6.5, and you have the whole shebang.

DugBoy66 looks good, you will stop better for sure, and not
have to worry about Brake Adjustments.
I think it is the F-450 that has the Drive Line Parking brake.
Don`t know if it can be adapted.

F Super Duty 88-97 are equipped with the driveline brake. Difficult to adapt to 4WD and expensive to rebuild. They work great though, but if you don’t have deep pockets then probably better off to find something else.

A friend of mine has a dually 10.25 with disk rear conversion, and a GM parking brake system of some nature. I’ll have to ask him about it when I see him later this week.

That is what I was hoping to find when I put on the disc brake kit. I thought the drive line brake would be more common. I have a set of calipers on the way that have the parking brake but honestly I can't think of the last time I set an e-brake on an automatic

I lent my truck to a friend who said that he was driving it on the highway and it started to make a rumbling noise with a little vibration... so I drove it and it sounded exactly like the 4WD was engaged, which is noticeable above 45 mph. Probably could use some front driveshaft U-joints, but I digress.

Anyhow it did not take long to find that the t-case was stuck in 4WD in 2H. Neutral, 4H and 4L worked normally. Time to go inside it... again  At least this can be done in the truck!

Drain plug out, a normal quantity of Transfer Case Fluid came out, although it was burned brown. Sure enough, the front drive sprocket had friction-welded itself to the mainshaft. But the other journals looked normal, last year's oil pump repair and replacement felt smooth, no metal particles in the oil. I'd also welded a rod on the end of the pump bracket (the usual BW1356 mod) and it was intact. Strange.

I bought a good used mainshaft (with the oil pump in place) and a sprocket. Wasn't cheap but a fraction of the price of a reman transfer case! I also replaced the oil pickup tube with a piece of 5/16" fuel line in case it had been sucking partially shut when hot. Put it all back together, filled with 2 quarts of Mercon LV (which is now recommended by Ford for t-cases, didn't used to be) and so far so good. Front shaft spins freely in 2H, no rumbling noises.

What bugs me is that I hardly ever use 4WD anyway, and I've been inside this t-case three times since I bought the truck. Once to replace bearings and seals, once for the spun oil pump repair, and now for a seized sprocket. At least I am getting good at disassembly and reassembly

The trip I'm on now was mostly flat ground down the gorge, but was driving into a head wind. Maintaining 65mph coolant temps still liked to sit about 205-210. Also noticed some opaque smoke when driving in the dark in other peoples headlights. Wonder if I need to check timing.
Running along the Columbia gets nasty winds, took the boat out there one and had to seriously throttle just to hit a plane in a headwind. Freaking river had whitecaps from the blow.

Started these awhile ago, but finally got both the rear axle hubs rebuilt, finished the new brake lines and have both the rear disc brake conversion completed.

Looks nice.
Where did you source the parts?
I have a set of '03 axles been sitting outside unprotected on a slab for a couple years needing rehab before I can finally use the Sky RSK I picked up at the OBS show.
Did you go hydroboost?

Thanks Divemaster, I ordered a kit from Complete Performance but it is a Ruff Stuff kit. You can upgrade different part of the kit as you order. I did not go hydro boost yet and I ordered the proportioning valve (wilwood clone) that I have not installed yet. Going to test first. That is if I ever get it moving under it own power

I read somewhere that the proportioning valve isn't needed in engineered 4 wheel disk systems, as the caliper sizes are what controls the amount of pressure, so I also planned on just straight lines.
Have the front seat out and am sound proofing before new carpet, so right now would be the perfect time to go hydro and move the brake pin.
Just need to locate a hydro unit and master.
