So what did you do with your truck today?

Yesterday…

I put a new radiator in. 1165C from Napa. 2 row with 1.25” tubes. Way shinier than anything else on or about the truck. It is aluminum core with steel frame and plastic tanks. Bolted right in.

After installing the new radiator, I proceeded to flog the ever living crap out of it. Went and checked pastures, then when I got back to Council Grove, I went south of town where there is an asphalt road that is always dead. Held er on the floor 11 miles south, turned around and held it to the floor back north. Temp never flinched. But it isn’t gonna be good for interstate travel. Wrapped clear out 75-80. Has more top end than a Cummins, but it needs toned down. So I need to get a clutch and solid flywheel for a 7.3 to ZF5. And a shifter, but I thought it might be neat to keep the original stick and find a ZF5 knob.

Put new badges on too. And unbolted the exhaust between the y pipe and the muffler just to hear it. Good sound for a gasser. And way too loud. I’ll keep that bolted on. But if you wanna go hooning and make some noise, a couple of bolts and a piece of baling wire, bam, straight piped. Too easy…

Funny you mention it, I found a 5-spd knob and stuck it on my T-19.

Goat
I guess I could do that on my t-19 since I find myself trying to put it in 5th all the time anyway.
Always do that in my 83 atleast a couple times after I have spent a few days driving either of my powerstrokes.

Maybe that should be my motivation to get the zf5 and d60 swap done.

It's funny because after driving the truck at work I find myself occasionally trying to put my ZF5 into 6th gear. If it ever goes in that will end BADLY LOL

Thankfully my zf5 and zf6 both have od in the same place. I have had a couple close calls with the 4 and 5 spd almost running into stuff thinking I was in reverse after driving the 6spd.

I always get a laugh outa the people in front of me in a parking lot when I'm in my 97 1ton with the ranch hand style bumper and I'm looking backwards expecting to back up and it starts going forward.

Turn back around wondering *** is going on and the guy in the little car in front of you is just staring at the bumper with eyes as big as saucers.

Just when I thought I was gone with fire wood until fall... Actually this was from a place that a friend is renting in the country. We cut this last Thanksgiving weekend. he told me that I could just leave it there as long as I wanted to. I thought that I'd go get it in the fall and take it right to my house to burn. Lately though he's been talking about moving and when he talks about it, he's probably going to be moving. I didn't want to wait for much longer to pick it up so that the weeds would be shorter and there would be less chances of finding snakes. One piece wasn't quite ready to burn yet for some strange reason.
