I have 2 trucks to build. I had been accumulating parts for my wife's truck. I have a 7.3 Vin m with around 100k on it. I bought a factory turbo kit off ebay in New condition. I have a used hypermax intercooler set up as well.
I lost oil pressure on my 89 and it started knocking a month ago. I'm shifting gears and am going to put those parts in my truck so we can get one back on the road. The first one will be a budget build. The second I plan to spend more on. So my first question is, can I harm a new turbo by running an old up pipe? I have 2 088 set ups that I can take parts from.
The second question is how long to run stock na injectors? I'm hoping to see 12-13 lbs of boost thru this set up.

The wife's build be mostly new or rebuilt parts. I can take my time and money building it. The more I save on my truck, the sooner I can build hers.

As long as the v band flange isn't all bent up and will seal or the pipe isn't smashed to the point it could cause flow issues I would send it.

James

I misread the original post. I thought you were asking about the down pipe. But the same would still apply to the up pipes except for the v band flange being bent.

If it has been sitting, tap on it with a hammer to make sure nothing is stuck in it that will come loose and go through the turbo.

There was minimal difference between the NA injectors and the factory Turbo injectors. Everyone seems to build them the same now. I see no reason to even try Stage 1 injectors on a stock 088 kit. Run what you've got you'll be fine.

The Up-pipe is completely different between the 088 and 093 setups and does not interchange. The crossover pipe from the 088 to 093 are supposedly the same. I was able to reuse my home-made crossover pipe from a 088 to the 093, after "gently" bending it by 1/4". The downpipe didn't fit (also home-made) but I was able to modify it when I changed from 088 to 093.

EDIT: Here's my thread where I show some of the differences between the 093 and 088: https://www.oilburners.net/threads/ats-088-to-093-upgrade.91855/

@typ4 might be able to confirm based on more experience.

It's the gated factory/093, but yes I will run what I have on this one.
the cross over pipe and the up are two different things your asking about. The cross over pipe is available reproduction new for the 093. The up pipe you will need to source there’s no reproduction. Or at least get the Y’s and there’s a guy that can make you the rest.

the problem with the factory up pipe, is that most of them dont seal.
if yours does, you are golden.
if it dont, i make up pipes for these factory turbos, as well as the 093.
never deal with a slipfit again!
