Yep, worlds first 65 Deville with a fully functional winch. It’s bolt on removable and tied into primary 3/8” frame brackets and multiple 1/8” support points.Do you go on many jeep trails with your caddy, lol. I've never seen a winch on one of those. Kind of interesting....

It’s use - most of the work I do in the garage is heavy IDI stuff and often I’m alone. Moving vehicles, engines and drivetrain components are a pain to impossible without a second hand. All of that changes and is accomplished using the winch setup on the Cadillac. It’s uses are pretty innovative and endless around the yard too. You can snatch block disabled cars onto trailers. This all works because the caddy is full frame weight of a truck.
I’ve done some initial measuring the long term plan is to swap a 7.3 IDI into the car. I also plan to swap out the rear for something from a truck because the factory Cadillac rear is strong but not servicable and riveted so I’m stuck with open diff and high gearing. Once I swap the rear I’ll put a selectable locker, high gearing, and a receiver on the rear frame.
Outside of the caddy I’m currently on a multi-year strategy to align all my vehicles to use 7.3 IDIs and associated components.
Bricknose truck - turbo 7.3 in-progress wrapping up this year
65 caddy - will drive with the 429 until the truck is stable and then it will come in for its build. I currently have a decent setup on it with the 429 and electronic ignition conversion among other mods including the winch.
Bricknose bronco - currently working on potentially trading one of my non-IDI vehicles for this which will be on the roadmap for IDI.
