My first guess would be the oil cooler O-rings.
Most likely o rings in cooler. The coolant has drained into the oil pan. I don’t think a head gaskets would drain that much coolant. The oil cooler is low enough to though.
Where do you guys suggest I get the O rings from? Also, how hard is it to replace them? thanks

Like Chillman said. The o rings are easy, getting the cooler out can be challenging. I did mine 2 months ago, I got it out by pulling the tube out of the front header, but it wasn’t going back in assembled. I had to loosen driver side motor mount and jack up engine just an inch and it slid in. Mine is 2 wheel drive. Many say with 4 wd there is enough room. Lots of lube and a pipe clamp (ensure the headers are going on square to the body) and they slide back together. I used victor reinz o rings from Rockauto.

The oil and the coolant are both gray. I don't think it was ran much after the oil and coolant started to mix, so I'm hoping the motor isn't toast. Also, the coolant level was really low and the oil was diluted pretty bad. The oil is gray and reads halfway up the dipstick! I don't know what is causing this.

Hoping for you it's the oil cooler. It'sa pretty common issue. Mine had this issue not long after I bought it.

Other than a head gasket, early 7.3s had a bad casting run with problems of porosity between the oil and coolant galleries... but I would think that issue would of been found years ago.

Finally there is the posibility of cavitation holes in a cylinder wall, the 7.3s are more prone to have this problem than 6.9s.

Side story for the bad 7.3 block castings

My parents bought a brand F350 that had this problem. Fought the Ford dealer for over two months, dealer even tried to say someone was sabotaging their truck, even after it was pointed out that there was a service bulliten about the issue.

Fortunately we had a family member that worked for Ford and personnaly new Ford District Manager (I think that was his title). Once we explained the issue to him, he said that was a known issue the service department should know about, then told my parents to take the truck in the following Friday and there 'would be a brand new engine waiting for you'.

When they went to the dealership. A different service manager came out and said he didn't know what kind of connections we had, but he never had seen a whole new long block show up that quick... and something about the old service manager not working there anymore[emoji15]

This one's not a hex so it doesn't have a size.

I got my F superduty today. The guy I bought it off of, does have a set of front wheel simulators that I will hopefully be getting soon to put on the truck. Somebody put a lot of work and money into this truck, but stopped in their tracks when the coolant and oil started to mix. It is a solid truck, and I am looking forward to getting it going soon.

Wow Rock that is CLEAN! Nice find!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Now if I could only figure out what happened in the passenger seat!lol
Once I get it going, I am picturing some stacks and toolboxes behind the cab, nothing crazy though. The wiring is actually pretty good, and definitely better than I expected. I am going to order those O rings and we will see what happens. Also, if anyone knows, did the F superduty trucks come with steering wheel controls? I didn't think they did, but this one has it, and it leaves me wondering if the column was swapped at some point. The controls are all hooked up, so it makes me wonder.
