Really just need it to get hot enough for the water to boil off, I think 180-200 should work but a little higher wouldn't hurt, I can always turn it down.

I tried a sew-on cover like I put on my '06 (looks good) but it was too big to lace tightly on the '93 steering wheel. I can't stand the slip-on covers soooo,,, off with the old ratty one and on with a old but much more pristine version

Try melting some lanolin and beeswax in a double boiler, then as it cools dissolve it in something volatile, like acetone, and spray that on. Lanolin and beeswax is a home brew cosmoline, and it's not going to come off easily.
For preserving little things, I use Napa Chain and Cable lube. It dries to a sticky cosmoline-like coating.

Maybe put in some spruce sap too. My dog hates the smell of that. Or just put some traps around the truck when you park it.
I've used that kind of mix for guns, and similar stuff for hand cream, but I've never tried using it on equipment.
I wonder if you can buy real cosmoline? It probably had gnarly chemicals in it, and probably isn't even made any more. Pretty sure lanolin was what made it so sticky and hard to remove, though.

You should probably use paraffin rather than beeswax - that's going to be cheaper. Maybe some waste motor oil and paraffin. Make a mix that's solid at room temperature. Thin it with acetone for spraying
Anyway, home made or store bought, something that leaves a solid film is going to last longer than waste motor oil.

We've got a cosmoline equivalent at work, I thought about it but it's quite flammable so it caused me concern.

I have to cut about a foot off each end still, I need it to be 8', it's currently about 10'.
I'm pretty sure it'll last, heavy SOB, it's a 3/4" thick moldboard.......

Doing surgery on my lumpy captains chair. talk about half-assed repairs, took it apart and found a misshapen blob of foam kind of wedged in under the upholstery. I can't imagine how they did it so crappy. Without removing at least part of the cover they couldn't have shoved it in at all, but once it's removed a chimp could have put it in better.
Cutting new foam pieces and had to drill the rail underneath where the seat spring wore through it's previous hole.

Well I swapped a used set of tires onto Diego that should fair a bit better in the snow than the highway tires that were on it. They were good tires, but not very good on the slick stuff.
In doing so I noticed that one of the calipers has been dragging, apparently for a while as the rotor is quite chewed up, as in needs replacing and turning wouldn't be possible. Can't fix it right now but it'll have to be soon.
I got the owner's manual and maintenance logs in the mail today. Apparently this wiper motor was replaced in 2014. Doesn't look like it! It is tagged reman so maybe it was.
Odd that it doesn't park correctly. On intermittent the wiper goes almost all the way down and stops. Then next cycle it will park, then repeat the process... Except for the occasion when it actually works right. Pretty annoying though!

Posted it on FB marketplace to test the waters. Guy and his son looked at it test drove and fell in love with it. Gave him the title and he gave me the money.
As he is getting ready to leave, he turned the heater on and it instantly filled the cab with smoke.
Longstory short I went back into the house and got his money and gave it back to him, apologized and told him I'd try to find out what the problem is and holler at him.
Well, turns out the @#$%& fuel heater sprung a leak in the middle of the test drive and soaked the exhaust manifold with diesel.
Don't know if I should feel bummed or thankful the truck didn't burn to the ground lol he wont return my phone calls and I decided to keep the old girl.

I was getting low on feline supplies. Technically not me, but I haven't been able to teach those two to go buy their own, so it's up to me I guess. It was off to Wal-Mart after work. Before I went there, though, I stopped at Harbor Freight to pick up a couple of boxes that have a small trailer plus a spare trailer tire. That's getting ready to be pulled behind my 1983 GoldWing. The bike pictures are when I brought it home in my 1981 F150. I want to go motorcycle camping, but I don't have all of the fancy, tight packing stuff so this is my compromise. Besides it may be that I may not go camping alone all of the time.
