The harmonic anvil? Boat anchor? Keel? What is this?

This was bolted to the transmission cross member with the trans mount bolts.
Cross member was sandwiched between this and the transmission mount. The cast blocks kinda float on the bracket. Really strange. Any ideas?
This was under my c6, I'm putting in a zf5. Should I chunk it? Put it back in? Bring it to the Nov. CDD idi meet-up/swap meet and auction it off?

I only remember seeing those with automatics. Not just IDIs, but with gassers too. I have no idea what it's for other than to bang your head on. That's why I call them headbangers.
