ZF-5 Questions

Does anyone know what the recommended oil change interval is on the ZF-5 transmission. What oil type/grade should I use ? I would like to use a synthetic. Thanks

i believe its 30k miles... maybe sooner if you work it hard. it will use ATF, altho i have read where people used motor oil to make it quieter when they went with a SMF flywheel. i got the service record for my parts truck when i bought it... it had been 46k since the last *recorded* trans flush... and when i did it 2 weekends ago it looked pretty healthy to me... im sure the more *experienced* guys will chime in in the morning with a better answer

Does it matter what type of atf , Like atf dextron III , what synthetics are people using ?

I used two gallons of Royal Purple Synthetic ATF in my ZF5. Zero gear rollover even with the SMF. Shifts greats and stays cool.
