Which Oil Pump should I use? (With Video)

I have two oil pumps both from 7.3 IDI vans. One spins freely and one spins kind of clunky. Which one should I use?

I thought about that too, because the clunky one seems a bit odd. But I just wanted to check with the group and make sure that it wasn't like a fan clutch, which in that case spinning freely is a sign of a worn out fan clutch.

The oil pump should spin fairly freely with no oil inside. I'd say use the first one in your video.

Take the covers off, clean them up, use the one with the least wear in the cover and housing.

Kind of wonder why opening up the pumps was not the first suggestion... BTW EVERY oil pump from ANY idi fits all 6.9 and 7.3 idi engines. And the oem pumps are better than the Melling.
