My comment about spraying WD 40 in the intake was to get as much oily mist into the cylinders as quickly as possible. Going in thru an injector hole or a glow plug hole is not reaching the cylinders like a fogged intake stream. I am not a user of WD40 for anything. My suggestion was to get oil to the cylinders before much cranking takes place. Once the engine is running we have those piston oil cooling jets spraying oil under the piston. That will clean off and oil the cylinders very well once running.

WOW Just spent the last hour reading this four pages thread. I'm a slow reader.

Waystro is a young feller, just 19 IIRC I seen in one of his posts. Got a lot to learn about Diesels yet. But good for him asking questions about an old engine that hasn't been started in 8 years. We live and learn, sometimes it becomes costly.

What gets me is, he suggested using some Auto-RX in it to clean it up, then this whole thread kinda went to hell. I think he's intelligent enough to take the advice of what to do previously to start it running.

There's numorous engine oil additive products on the Market, just as there are different brands of oil. A hundred people and you have a hundred opinions.

Just like when I changed my oil in my PSD yesterday, been using Delo400 and Rotella 15-40 for years, decided to change to Rotella T6 5-40, a full synthetic, man O man does that engine run a lot quieter and quicker starting. Just my OPINION.

Nothing wrong with a feel good feeling.

People can have their opinions, but don't try forcing your beliefs on everyone else.
Let me know how that t6 goes. I've heard differing experiences with it, but I'm looking to try something new on my next oci.

I say go with what works. My 6.9 hasnt ran since whenever and I've got a concoction of sorts in the crank of things Both I've seen works and what the old timers told me to put in. Once I get good batt cables and see if she runs, Its time for filters, 3-4 fluid changes, fuel pump, etc... I'm still wondering what I'm going to do about the fuel tanks and BAD fuel in them. Waystro, Congrats to the new truck and have fun. What was your impression about the guy who was selling mine? Kinda quirky wasn't he? lol.

I see what you mean about the intake fog, but the little straw that comes on the can gets past the precup easily. Plus ut doesny take much to mist past the precup throat. Then you dont have to dry crank. With the glowplugs out you can make sure there wasnt any coolant that would bend a rod, and let the engine crank easiet without compression. Any moisture an oil will blow out the holes. Pretty entertaining.

After sitting for 8 years you will want to bring some batteries, charger with decent boost and jumpbstart. Swap fuel filters with one toppsd up with fresh diesel. Mechanical lift pump takes a while to get siesel up to filter and ip. If everything cranks over good then put the time on the fuel syatem and puttjng glowplugs back in.

Gotta seee if it cranks first, then worry about fuel and starting. If it starts then get it running meaning fixing the coolant and power systems as needed.

Thanks everyone it has a Electronic Pump on it so priming shouldn't be too bad. On another note the guy has a 6.9 That overheated he's asking $75 should I pick it up? Nothing else the cam and block should be good.

Having dealt with an engine that set for 6 years, the lifters were gummed up, causing all sort of combustion process issues, and from the advice of another trusted member on here, I dumped in a bottle of Marvels Mystery oil into the crankcase oil and cranked it over a few times to make sure the MMO was able to get up to and into the lifters and let it set for a couple of hours. That was enough to free up the sticky lifters and was able to fire it up.
I'm not a big "Snake oil" fan but the MMO sure did the trick.
Now as said, barring it over by hand after a good soaking with some PB blaster down the glow plug holes will be the best bet as said to get the rotating assembly rolling and free of the rust rings that are sure to be present, then go for some fresh fuel and see what she does.

Either traded or gave away the rest of the crap for "brownie points". Sometimes, Junk has value and you'd be surprised what happens. What did you think of that van? HAHA, total junk. I really wish I could of picked up that caddy instead.....
