cant seem to find one even at a ford dealer seem to have one problem after another hoping it isn't another "obsolete" part. therefore, does anyone know where i can find a new timing cover?
Are you wanting the thin steel cover that is the backing plate for the water pump. They probably are no longer offred new anywhere. Finding a used one is what you probably will need to do. Might try an international dealer too. They can run a nationwide search. Might find a new old stock piece.
It would be easy to cut out with a water jet or plasma cutter but building the oil pan end and the crank main seal holder might be ruff. There is 4 thin nuts spot welded to the back side of it for the water pump 2 top and bottom bolts. Wouldn't be hard to spot weld or silver solder them on the plate. If I were to make one up I sure might make it thicker than what we have now.
