Many years ago, younger dumber and poorer, used to pull them apart to make them work again. Ultra grey worked good for sealing a cracked diaphram, and the check valves could be replaced by the accelerator pump check valve from a 2150 motocraft.

Well, we may be heading in that direction soon anyway as the IDI specific vac pumps are becoming NLA

That's true, but, the last I knew, you can buy a new vacuum pod and put it on your drive unit.
