I put a carter lift pump on my truck about a month before I tore it apart to start swapping the trans. Here I am 3 months later and it turned into a full restoration, but I just got it running last night and noticed an oil leak from the lift pump.

Cleaned it off and ran it for longer today, and its very clearly dripping from the weep hole on the lift pump :bsit had done that one time about a month after I installed the pump, but never again after that so I never looked into it.

Did one of the seals in the pump go bad? If so I’ll see if I can warranty it and swap in out while I have the truck torn apart still.

The puddle in the first picture is from about 20 minutes of idling while I was letting the cooling system bleed.

Top circle in the second picture is the weep hole, bottom circle is a drip coming off the pump

It does look like oil, but's that's all anyone can say without being there. In order for that to be oil, the diaphragm in the pump would have to be bad. That's how fuel and oil mix with each other at the lift pump. You need to pull the dipstick and see if it smells like diesel BEFORE you drive it any farther. If there's fuel in the oil, you should not drive the truck until you change both the lift pump and the oil (and filter).

Have seen this with several mechanical pumps lately. Its not a matter of if they leak, but how much. None mixed oil and fuel.

I’m considering going with an electric pump, but it sounds like quality is hit or miss with those too no matter what pump ya get. I may try one more carter pump since they’re cheap and if that fails I’ll probably go electric

Generally denotes a eminent failure.
Today's chineezium products, I'm uncertain about it being coincidence.
Up front I'd say warranty it.

It's amazing how something as simple as a fuel pump can become a whole messy can o' worms in no time at all. E-pump? Which e-pump? Keep replacing crappy mechanical pumps? How much is my time worth? And so on.

Mechanical fuel pumps leak essentially out of the box and that’s industry standard now, on my powerjoke 7.3 I went through 4 in less than 3,000 miles both Napa and ford dealership and I have never had a leak free pump on my idi.

You can still find an International branded mechanical fuel pump for about $200, made in Mexico.

Have you gotten one?
No effin' way at that price. I spent too much time searching around online looking for every mechanical pump option and came across a couple sites that were offering International pumps. I also saw one on Ebay and the packaging clearly stated 'Made in Mexico'.
