Vacuum Assist? Brake Help!

Today I developed a braking problem. The pedal seemed "hard". Everything was fine then I just didn't have the normal braking power. It retuns to normal then goes hard often now. The belt seems fine. Any thoughts.

perform a test on the vaccum pump itself (others will provide info)...or you have a leak in one of your lines like i did

This is typically the first signs that the vacuum pump is dragging a leg - seen it twice before on The Enterprise both times it gave the warning signs before. The first time I donked around with it for about 3 months trying to figure out what was wrong everytime I would do a vacuum test the gauge would show good vacuum... Then I finally just threw a pump at it and bingo problem was gone. Then a couple three years later same signs - just stopped off and replaced it with no tests because I knew what was coming next...

well i've seen a similar post on the other forum and Pete came up with something really good you guys might already know, there is an electric pump from chevrolet vehicles that can be conneted to the vacuum system with a hoob switch, etc. In case you loose the one vacuum on the belt the electric one gets activated. I've read the article it is interesting and i'm trying to understand it so if it's possible to do it on my rig.

Sounds like a vacuum pump to me. Mine did the same thing. New pump and it was fine.
