Well I finally got E2 back on the road.... sort of - takes some knowledge to get her started but she's legal and running...
As some of you might remember the batteries were loaned to another member here so that he could get his truck running as the batteries he had were bad and wouldn't hold a charge... well one day when I needed to get her on the road I went to jump her and as it turns out the passengers side battery had REVERSED voltage... insert wiring fire at this point...
Well I got the wiring repaired day before yesterday... got new alt installed and found out that the battery that flipped on my took out the following parts...
Voltage regulator - been replaced.
Glow Plug controller - currently grounding under hood when want to start - remember to install wire nut to protect loose end.
Radio - took out fuse mounted on radio it's self - replaced.
Satellite Radio tuner - FRIED! - no satellite radio feed - &^^%%$$ now I have to listen to CD's, MP3 (thumb drive) or over the waves radio ---- OH the world is coming to an end... I could have lived without the alt charging but no satellite radio is gonna kill me.... ;p
So we are mobile under our own power again... she got both tanks filled up currently and got the insurance turned back on.... Found out a nifty little thing when I went to turn the insurance back on - figured why pay for insurance if she was just going to be sitting for the winter while I troubleshot her and got her repaired.... Save that money and just wait until I'm ready to run her again....
Well as some of you might know I loaned the E2 to my Ex-wife last summer since her car was toast... well E2 came home after 2 days with her drivers side hip broke... (dually fender) and I was told that all she did was clip a concrete pole at a filling station.... Well the insurance agent informed me today that back when this happened there was a $16,000 claim against the policy - so it wasn't a simple little concrete pole.... Joy.... My first thought that hit me was oh no I'm not going to be able to get insurance... but he put in the notes and said not a problem because it was on the ex-wife and not me as she was listed as the driver... so my rates were not effected !!!
So I'm fully legal and have two tanks of fuel (can only access one because the Pollack Valve is bad - but it's there waiting if I need to swap the fuel lines)...
Still have the fuel drain back issue - but I will get around to that here soon... And I still need to do the back brakes but that is all small issues and I'm driving here and enjoying her.... AH it's so nice to be back in a diesel again.... I think I'm gonna take her to work tonight - let's all hope she starts for me in the morning... better yet Scott Nicklas better hope it starts or he's gonna have to come get me....
