I ran a search in quotes but can't come up with anything, so what the heck is it, and is there a problem with it? I remember reading about it, but can't remember why...

it is the intake air sliencer in the shape of a soup bowl mounted on the bottomside of the air cleaner lid. i used to cut it out completely but now after experiencing K&N's shrinking with age, I will leave a 2inch lip on it so I can get the air filters to fit snugly.

just make sure you keep the bolt hole sealed up good, or you will get a really fatal suprise if the truck ever sits in a downpour.
