I did remember to get a few pictures of the expensive no trespassing sign that I bought from the same guy yesterday. I had hoped to get 2 or 3 more, but my battery died. This used to belong to a CO-OP and it was used as a spray rig. Judging by the rear bumper, it was also used to pull anhydrous tanks. I was told that it was geared low enough that it would only go about 55MPH top speed with 37" military tires on it. I can remember seeing some trucks set up like this one was 30+ years ago. They probably had 500 gallons tanks on them. They also used to run Super Swampers. At least the ones that I saw did. Naturally, you HAVE to love the drainage culvert on the back of the exhaust. The body is shot, but it does have a 7.3 N/A, a ZF5, and a Dana 60 front end so I'm happy with the purchase. I've seen just the front ends, and, lately, just the ZF5s listed for as much or more than what I paid for this truck so I'm even happier about that!

Slowly getting there… I need to clean the oil mess up still. Working on the V band up pipe this morning, then I’ll work on mounting the down pipe. Intercooler tubing from Hypermax arrives tomorrow. I’ll need to acquire a 3.5” silicone boot and 3” to 3.5” exhaust adapter. Then get the wastegate set at an appropriate level and get this thing back on the road.

On the topic of 4x4 1tons, I went a picked this up for $1500 the other day. Kodiak Alaska truck, super rusty! Sat for 9 years. 1987 6.9, zf5, D60 front. Got it running. Gonna keep motor as a spare. Zf5 is going in my white truck I built this summer, as the current zf5 that is in it is terrible going into reverse! And this 1ton 4x4 is silky smooth going into reverse. Hopefully all other gears work well. Then I’ll list my old zf5, and the drivelines, crossmember, pedal assembly, and all that for $1200 and it will sell quick! Then I’ll clean up the 4.10 d60 and keep it around or sell. Can’t go wrong with a old 1ton 4x ford :cool:

I’ll be interested in hearing what gears it has! That sounds super interesting. If it’s anything lower than 4.10s the desirability would go up!

That sure is a nice looking Bull Nose truck. "Bull Noses Rule".
Sell all the parts off that old rusty one ton, will almost like getting the ZF for free.

One thing I will recommend is while they are still available, pick up a couple spare Clutch Forks.
I have been searching for one for my T-19 Transmission. No where anywhere in my searching is
one available.

I don`t have a ZF-5, but am ordering a few of the Forks just incase I do run across a ZF.

Not in my case. I want highway cruisability so they'll be swapped out.
Interesting! I definitely understand a guy wanting highway gears. Around my here on the PNW coast seems like guys are always looking for low gears for running big tires and wheeling.

Thank you
Yes! The t19 ones are impossible to find. I had a truck I was doing a motor r&r on this summer, and the release fork was terribly worn. Couldn’t find any online. So I goobered some welds on the pads that contact the throw out bearing. I wasn’t able to use hard facing rod, so we will see how long it lasts.

I had a zf5 release fork pivot ball wear out, that caused the release fork to push unevenly on the throw out bearing. And that wore the throw out bearing out. Now finding that press in style pivot ball was a pain! Now that you mentioned it I should definitely order a couple more up for the future.

I understand that. If I lived closer to some place to haul it, I'd keep this one for a toy. I don't so I bought this one for the drivetrain only. That and whatever else I feel like I can store for future use. The axles are for a crew cab single wheel 4X4 project that I may never get around to buying. At least I have everything that I need for the sway if I buy a 2wd. For $1000, I couldn't say no!

Did a compression test today so thought I'd pop in and share the numbers.

February 2020
1 - 370
2 - 380
3 - 375
4 - 360
5 - 370
6 - 380
7 - 380
8 - 370

October 2025
1 - 420
2 - 430
3 - 440
4 - 450
5 - 425
6 - 435
7 - 445
8 - 430

The compression test in 2020 is when I started using full synthetic instead of Rotella T4 and also when I started using Engine Restore additive. I seem to remember I might've skipped the Engine Restore at one oil change but otherwise I've been consistent with using it. Both tests were done with the same compression tester and at the same elevation (kind of high elevation here). The electrical was upgraded between tests. Better batteries and cables and a new starter. That might have helped a little. I was pretty pleased with the numbers. Interesting that cylinder 4 was the lowest compression in 2020 and the highest in 2025.

Had a few errands to do today.
My Wife had to see the eye Dr. in Carson City for a follow up on her first
Cataract surgery. She is so excited getting the first one done. Things are
so clear. the sky is deep blue not the dingy grey she was seeing. She can`t
wait for next Wed for the 2nd one.

Then headed up to Reno (60) mile from here. Headed east on I-80 to Sparks
PNP. there is an 83 F-250 6.9 Diesel. Came in Aug 1. Dang, I wasn`t keeping
tabs on what was coming in.
Hood, both Doors, Steering Column, Instrument Cluster, Seat, T-19 Trans.,
Some things off the top of the engine like Fuel Filter Air Cleaner etc... OH,
and the Grill and head Light shrouds....
They pretty much cleaned house.
They even got the Clutch Fork that is made out of unatainium. ;Pissed

Iam thinking of going back on Friday to remove the Bell Housing, Clutch/Brake
assy. and both front fenders. Can`t believe PNP didn`t mash them in moving
the truck around. I can get rid of the rusted fenders off the 86 now, and adjust
the door hinges loosened , and adjust my saggy doors.

Was thinking of removing the Oil Cooler, but think I read it uses 3 ? "O" Rings on
each end, compared to the 2 that the later rucks use. Think that is what I read.

The neck the upper Radiator hose clamps onto, has deep rust inside it and the
Radiator is crudded up with rusty gunk. They must have just run water in it...Yuck.

Headed over to Shields to buy some Freedom Seeds. They have enough inventory to
start a war.

Stopped at In N Out Burger for a Burger and Coffee then to Winco Foods to buy some
bulk stuff. Then back to Carson City for fuel. $3.50 at the Country Store out on 50,
cheapest anywhere. Down here in Gardnerville, Arco is $3.59/$3.69. a independent is
$3.55.

Truck ran like a champ, closing in on 375K miles.

Early ones did use three on each end. If that's still the original one. They will interchange with the later ones. The end caps are specific though.
