Finally got a replacement rear tank pickup and sending unit installed. What a pain. I put some diesel in it to check the float and need on the dash. It's over full with just 5 gallons. No idea. I went around to the front of the engine to see about flow. Turn the key and wait. A little squirt then nothing. Then a squirt of some red junk after about a quart of squirt, wait, squirt, red stuff it got too dark to see so I packed it all up for the evening.

Looks like I need to go through the whole fuel line system and replace that.

Could try an air compressor after you unhook both ends but it's probably the tank. That's my scenario, rust and crap galore.

I was dreading the worst-case scenario, failing fuel selector valve. Having never been that far under it I crawled under it to find an inline mini fuel pump that was spliced inline. I presume it was one of the prior owners. Naturally it was all clogged up. So I removed it. (I installed one of those knockoff Dacor refer fuel pumps on the right-side fender wall a while back) While I had the fuel selector valve hanging down, I did the one-man test operation of getting on my knees, standing on my head and trying to flip the switch on the dash. It twisted back and forth so I considered it working. Hooked it all back up. A couple of the glow plug cycles, a jump start from the jeep and it's purrring like an air induced fuel line kitten.

I broke several fuel line clips in the process of all this so I ordered some from Amazon. It's almost ready to start running WMO.)

The red junk is the front tank diesel with ATF in it. I forgot I had ran some of that a couple years ago and it's still in there.

Now I just need to find a centrifuge that I can afford. $2k and up is a bit out of my price range right now because I have to buy a new semi-tractor before year end or give Uncle Sam the cash for taxes. All the designs I've seen in the USA look like the ones coming out of China for half the price. I have no idea.

I used my 1970 Highboy 7.3 idi to move, 600 Mile's each trip, hugh some pretty steep highways, namely Jasper Nationional park Alberta. 3 trips through there, and two more up through Kelowna and Williams Lake route, to Sinclair Mills where I bought my new home in the country. Broke my bellhousing on my return trip for the camper and pickup box load. Had to borrow the X's hybrid hyndia car to go back up and get my spare. Another 9.5 hour trip each way, and , lost an injector line , front left side cyl bank. Got the brackets on and that didn't happen again. Overall a good hard 20 days of moving, 5 trips with the 'OldMan' (52 this year). Trip one; canopy full and the boat. Trip two , truck parts and Samurai, trip three cargo trailer, trip 4 haled the oil tank, and snowplow with the 71 Meteor that I sold, and trip 5 emptied the pickup box to haul the camper , and pickup box trailer for shop goodies. Finally got the camper off the truck yesterday. Lots of boxes and shop tools and equipment moved. Ordinarily, it's a 11.5 hour trip each way, so the OldMan got a real good workout, all my upgrades sure helped over the last 7 years, and more needed. 4 core aluminium radiator really made a difference, new water pump, but needs a good overflow bottle. New turbo downpipe, helped too, but, I could have had the fuel turned up some, never did see any black smoke. Cargo trailers brakes didn't work at all, so the 4spd coming down hills sure helped. Almost turned some crazy tourist drivers into macaroni, in Jasper,NP. Another story, very full cargo trailer wieghing in around 10,000 lbs, etc

Also lost one tiree on the trailer due to heat, did the bellhousing at a friend's place, he was very helpful, David. He also helped load the camper. Here's another one of the truck getting the tires rotated, . The trailer, a 26 foot , (18.5 foot deck) I built for the move during all the real estate business. For 2 months preceding the move. sure worked out well, still some things on it to do.

What is it that you did to the bell housing? It looks like its been messed with, but I can't figure it out. And Koot, what kinda tailgate says "Mercury" on it? I'm about to Google it!

I've never seen one before either. I know they were kind of rare even when they were being built. There just wasn't that many of them compared to the Fords.

The pivot bolt, had not been lubed often enough I think, my bad. Here's the replacement housing with a good pin. I was in a hurry and didn't snap enough pics . I'd also fixed a couple cracks in the y-pipe while it was apart. Here it is, back together with some grease on it. Before the fork was back in place. And boot.

You can see the cracking, right where the pivot for the fork attaches. These bellhousings are prone to crack here, the pivot came almost out off to one side, bent, not sure what happens first.

There's another guy on here that had his crack there. I'm thinking about going back with to the t19, if I do I'm going to fabricate a bracket to brace that pin up. And I do fantasize about making a matching truck bed utility trailer for my dually.

I've actually got 2 of those tranny's and bell housings, one of them is cracked.
