No, truck engine. That is just the shipping stand - an extra couple hundred pounds of steel that Navistar puts these things on.

We got 2 new IHC Dump trucks in Oct 81. Plow/Sander Bitc h tank on the side for tack coat when doing Asphalt work. Both were automatics. think 1800 series, had them for a good 12 years.
Had a few others, were mostly haul trucks with a 5 spd 2spd rear end. Those 466 engines just ran and ran.

Last truck I drove mostly last 10 year I work before retiring was a 95 1900, 5 and 2, Plow Sander etc... that was a great truck. got it new and had 150K on it when I retired. That was the last year engine before they stuck that stupid computer on them.
That truck never gave us any problems.
The other crew got a 96 with the computer, just didn`t drive the same, never liked it. Foot feed was mainly a switch with wires going to the computer.

What does the "C" mean after the 466? Computer?

The C is just the series. C was the last of the original DT design, this one in particular is a '91 model. They came out with the NGD in '92 or '93 - New Generation Diesel. NGD's were the last of the mechanical DT466's, P-Pump equipped. The E-Series was released a few years later, 1996 I think - HEUI injection setup.

This engine was a 250 Hp version. I hope to get it up to 325 with a bigger turbo, Intercooler and some adjustments to the pump.

There is a reason these engines are simply known as "Legend"

The early one we go in 81 had the Air Compressor Belt driven.
The one in the 95 truck it was along side the block on the drivers side, and I guess it was gear driven.

Most diesels when the oil is changed, doesn`t take long to turn black. (Yeah I know about residual oil.)
That 95 engine, it took quite a while before it turned black.

Those trucks had a square hole cut into the Radiator for a shaft
that was connected to the Crank Pully, that ran the Hyd Pump for
the Dump Body, Sander and Plow.
When Caltrans sold the trucks, they could not be sold in Kommifornia, had to be sold out of state.

So I flew back home fron Missouri last night, and was surprised by a gift from my old man.
He got me new window rubbers, the felt piece that goes on the outside, and chrome rain guards for my truck off of LMC. Love him so much.
So I'm putting those on this morning.

When I changed all that stuff probably 3 years back. sure made the cab quieter. Was probably original from 86, and as most people never change them. The window rattled back and forth, and the top of the plastic door panel was broken off in a few places from the sun. Replaced it with a new one and Window wipe.

I have a set of the Rain Guards I pulled from PNP several years ago,
wonder where I put them?

I brought another one home today. I bought this in an online auction last Friday, it is an 89 f350 with a 7.3 and zf5. It appears that it was originally a centurion conversion.

I scored it and a long block I believe 6.9 (haven't even looked to find out yet) and a fresh machined set of 7.3 heads for $1,330 after the buyers premium.

It took me about 8hrs yesterday and probably 4 hrs today but I drove it home.

I lost a serpentine belt in heavy traffic, thanks to a vacuum pump locking up. I put it back on for cruise control that I never got to work… definitely gonna delete that stupid thing…

Well I didn’t get pulled over before the radiator blew up AGAIN. Got pretty hot but I think the mill’s okay.

I ordered an aluminum radiator. Enough with plastic end tanks.

I’ll be working out of state and had already been told I would be able to use a company truck this week, radiator should be here Thursday so I hope I can get it back online next weekend.

New trucks are looking evermore tempting…

So is finishing my 94…

Such is the life.

I think I saw that on Facebook.
They had a blue and white 86 ex cab 4x4 with a 6.9 and zf5 also. It was the one I really wanted but after it went over 3k my wife made me abandon it.

The red one was only at $450 at that point so decided to try for it.

Then come to find out when we were picking up, my neighbor shows up to get the blue one. He said if I would have bid 1 more time I would have got it. He drove it home with only requiring a pull start.
