I just put @IDIoit up pipe on my truck and had to grind down the same spot. I talked to him and on his mock up piece it clears, on others it clears, on some it takes some grinding to clear. apparently all the intakes are a little bit different.

How close was the clearance on yours compared to mine?

i have also noticed that the casting nubs on the intakes differ greatly.
my mock up block, where all these up pipes are made still has the nub.
but everyones a little bit different.
also not limited to deck work on the block and head.
ive sold over 50 of these up pipes, and youre the first one thats had to use a shim.
theres no issue with using a shim, but that tells me that your turbo is bolted into a slightly different location than my mock up,
which is a factory turbo.
another thing worthy of mentioning is that if you have studs in the passenger exhaust manifold, i have found that it will not seal with the Y.
it causes a 1/8" gap between the manifold and the Y.
this will throw everything off too.
yes its a tight fit, i make them this way to ensure everyone clears the firewall without issues.

im here for you guys that have purchased these.
dont ever be apprehensive about contacting me about issues, no matter how small.

mine has a little more room than yours. I had much more trouble getting CDDs down pipe to clear the up pipe. It was rubbing on the v band clamp. Had to clock the clamp differently and put a small relief in the down pipe, but everything fits now and is sealed up great. The only issue is now the down pipe is rubbing on the body right where it comes out of the turbo, thus my thread on body mounts.
fired it up with just the down pipe to move it around. That was music to my ears!!:rock:

I used the handle of a floor jack to convince my body to bend and have more clearance. I also had pancaked out my down pipe a little to fit, it's a tight fit with the zf in there.

@IDIoit what studs are you referring to? I have studs in my manifold, but it seemed to seal up. Haven't fired it up yet since putting it all together.

Is that how you install those? I've always used a race driver backwards.

Cleaning/degreasing/wire brushing/sandblasting and painting stuff seems like all I do these days, but it's getting closer to being ready to install. Also installed some of Justin's Stage 1 injectors.

Hey @bulletpruf ! Your engine is beautiful, but what I SEE that really unites us as bretheren is the coffee cans! Not only is "Choc Full of Nuts" the ONLY coffee to drink (it really is the best) BUT it comes in these WONDERFUL metal cans that can be used for everything in the shop. And the real identifyer that you've been drinking it as long as I have is that I see a 33oz can back there! Boy, I wish they'd bring back the 33oz can! It really is "the heavenly coffee".

Well, I can't claim credit for the coffee cans. Those came with a bunch of 1970's C3 Corvette parts that I picked up for $1500. Been selling stuff off in order to pay for the 7.3 build.
