Heard banks was discontinuing the early sidewinder, so parts are hard to find.
I havent done a ton of research on this, but from what im reading its appears true. Anybody know where I can find a rebuild kit for the sidewinder, cause I could pay someone to custom make this kit, but would rather not.:dunno Tell all you know about situation, would like to know the details. Thanks everone!!

If anybody can dig up your parts it would be Russ (Typ4) I thought it was the later wastegated Banks kits that had all the special and proprietary parts. I'm glad I don't have one and ATS basically uses Garret stuff, Hypermax I think uses Air Research. I do appreciate what Banks has done with and for diesel performance but he and his company have a huge ego and the attitude that anything with the Banks name on it is automatically worth double the going rate for competitive products.

You can still get parts from Banks, you just need to be ready to part with a large *** of cash. They don't like selling rebuild parts, but rather the whole assembly.

I think Lake Havasue Turbo has the center cartridge for around $500.00. Thats for the wastegated sidewinder t3 turbo. I'm not sure what you mean by the early sidewinder units. Mitsubishi is the maker of the Banks turbos. They wont sell you anything unless you give them the part number.. They wont look up anything for you. A company named Kamak has replacement parts for them but they make them in there shop. They are not oem but manufactured to oem specs. They are located in Covina Ca. and are on Ebay from time to time..

If it is a mitsubishi you are on your own, If it is a garrett or roto master I can help, you have already recieved the available info. I personally would replace it with a garrett that would fit, that I could help you with.

I have a complete factory 94 garrett set up. Was actually going to switch out today, but time is limited due to this being my everyday wheels. Thought it would be less time comsuming to rebuild banks, cause exhaust would not have to be removed. But im fairly new at this turbo thing and wasnt sure if the swap would be benificial. Are my possibillities greater for upgrade on the garrett, and if not upgraded, will the factory turbo have as much boost.(as sidewinder) I appreciate you getting back to me, and any further imformation would be great.

The ATS 093 which is the factory turbo had a couple of disadvantages when compared with the same turbo from ATS and or a Banks Sidewinder. First the downpipe on the factory turbo has this squashed characteristic which is restrictive. Since you have a Banks turbo you could probably use the Banks downpipe as this was one fix for that problem. The exhaust flange on the factory turbo is also a little bit restrictive but that is not a cheap part to upgrade and I've heard of some people getting very little or only marginal results from doing that upgrade. I really am partial to ATS stuff myself but that's what I have experience with, I'd also be just fine working with Hypermax, but Banks, not so much.

Thanks for the info, If I do go ahead with the swap, I was definately going to use the banks down pipe. If completely not compadible, I would modify factory dp.I would also fab up Intake, to eliminate factory box. Dont know for sure what Ill do, maybe just buckle down and spend the cash on new ATS, sounds like from what im reading thats the direction to go. Im also toying w/ dropping a 12 valve cummins in, due to the high mileage on 7.3 (180,000) may be wasting time and cash on upgrades. Thanks guys for the wealth of information, and GOD bless.
