I've got an 89 Uhaul that had a 94 7.3. The engine blew about a year and a half ago.
I just swapped in a 94 7.3 with a factory turbo, C6 and an aftermarket overdrive.
I got her running one week ago and she was purring like a dragon.

Yesterday i had her on the freeway when the engine died. No sputtering or coughing. It was like the the key had been turned off.

I found a blown fuse link in the main harness just before it connects to the gp harness.
I'm hoping it goes to the fuel shut off solenoid.

I replaced the burnt link and tried starting her.
The new link burned. Also, the "wait for glow plugs" light didn't come on.

Can anyone give me the pin layout for this plug?
The wire that's popping is the second from the right on the bottom row.

I would disconnect the wires from the glowplug relay.
It's very possible you have a short somewhere on the engine as well.

that's how she's acting.
But right now I'm not sure which part of the circuits to check.

I've checked the fuel shut off solenoid and it works when voltage is applied.

If it's wire is the one that's burning i could temp rig something .
That's why I'm hoping for a pin layout.

Thanks Jasper,
but I can't find the fuel shut off solenoid in there.
Do they call it something else or am I just missing it?

This happened to my rig last year. Turns out the the temp sender behind the thermostat failed. It controls the fast idle and the cold advance. Sad part is it is the same fuse link to the glow plug solenoid. Pull the electrical plug to the sender and run it. Any engine from a wrecking yard is going to be the easy way to replace this.Ford wants too much for this sender. BTW this sender has two spade connectors and one is copper and the other is brass. No idea why.

Thanks.

I still have the engine donor truck.
It's gp harness looks worse than the one I kept, but I was able to use it to backtrack the burnt wire .
Turns out that it was the wire for the FSS.
I ran a hot wire to the cab, added a 20a fuse, a toggle switch and ran it back to the solenoid.
She seems to be running fine.
But I don't have glow plugs now.
Later I'll use the donor harnesses as a guide (and steal it's connectors) to make a new harness.
This swap has had me grounded too long. Right now i have to get out and earn some $

BTW, i had some fun with one of those a few years back when i swapped a 6.9.
The thing was so greasy that i cleaned it with gasoline.
I let it sit for a week, but that didn't help.
When i turned the key, it said BOOM!
