Rear main seal & install tool where to buy? Part#?

Well, Al, today is your lucky day! You have helped me out a bunch in the past on this forum, and I would be glad to repay the favor by shipping you the install tool - and you can keep it - Just pay for shipping. PM me with your address and I will ship it. Can I ship it to the place in WA where you get parts shipped too? It just so happens that I ended up with two of these seal/sleeve/tool kits from UHaul. The first one they shipped me the lip on the seal was nicked-probably from get shuffled around the warehouse. I contacted Frank at Uhaul and he shipped me out another kit right away and told me to just throw the other one away He is great to work with and stands behind what he sells. I was just starting to wonder what I was going to do with two of these install tools.

Would someone be able to tell me how tight the sleeve is supposed to be on the crank? Mine is so tight that I cannot get it more than 1/4 inch in. Does not matter how hard I hit the "install tool". Is there a tool I can buy to press it in? Something like this one OTC#7786 but for the 7.3 IDI? Thank you.

Do you have the Ford seal that comes with an installation tool, or are you using a Speedy Sleeve with it's installation tool? If a Speedy Sleeve it may not be the correct part, as it should fit without excessive force. I tried pressing the Ford seal/sleeve combo by drilling out the four holes in the installation tool. Pounding on it seemed like a funky way to go about it. My press idea wasn't a great success as I was doing it with the engine on a stand and the oil pan off. I was bending the rear plate. I think with the pan glued on it would have supported the rear plate.

Thanks TahoeTom, I bought the Ford seal. I will try what you did (using a plate). Unless someone else has a another good idea? I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that has issue with the fitment.
