Rear main seal & install tool where to buy? Part#?

I am readying my jy motor for install and I wanted to do a rear man seal. I was going to get the seal from carquest because they carry victor reinz. I am not seeing a listing for a kit that comes with an install tool and sleave. Napa seems to have one under the speedy sleeve listing. Anyone have any part numbers? Thanx in advance

The Ford part number is F2TZ-6701-A Oil Seal and Sleeve. I just bought one form U-Haul on Ebay. It comes with the crank wear sleeve, seal, install tool and instructions.

They are still available at ford. Thats were i got mine in november. It is an international seal in a ford bag so you should be able to get it from international. I have part number but not with me. When I get home I will post ih part number.

The seal is navistar part # 1816559 but that is not the part number for the kit with sleeve, seal and installer tool. F2TZ-6701-A as posted that is the correct ford part number for seal ,sleeve, and tool.


1819733 is a navistar number for seal kit with seal 1816559 and wear sleeve 1816569 but I am not sure if that comes with installer tool. You will have to ash at International parts counter.
That tool with the ford kit will also work for pressing front seal in , if the front plate is off the engine.
Another option is my seal came to my ford dealer through Ford Memphis, 5345 Hickory Hill Rd. Memphis Tn 38141. that what was on shipping label, you may be able to call them.

kicking myself for not replacing it when it was on the stand. it leaks. I was convinved it was front the valve covers dripping down. Fixes valve covers(were leaking) but the main is too. **** /.

That seal from u haul is a great price. Buying from ford or international is crazy expensive. A few years back I paid $80.00 for the seal with repair sleeve thru international.

Well, Al, today is your lucky day! You have helped me out a bunch in the past on this forum, and I would be glad to repay the favor by shipping you the install tool - and you can keep it - Just pay for shipping. PM me with your address and I will ship it. Can I ship it to the place in WA where you get parts shipped too? It just so happens that I ended up with two of these seal/sleeve/tool kits from UHaul. The first one they shipped me the lip on the seal was nicked-probably from get shuffled around the warehouse. I contacted Frank at Uhaul and he shipped me out another kit right away and told me to just throw the other one away He is great to work with and stands behind what he sells. I was just starting to wonder what I was going to do with two of these install tools.

My trans is coming out next week for a TC replacement and shift kit install. I figured as long as it was coming out, I may as well replace the seal. The seal only weeps a very small amount and I certainly wouldn't replace it otherwise, but better safe than sorry I guess.

I replaced my rear main 4 weeks ago when I did my clutch. I used a FelPro seal...$47ish from O'Rileys and I used a cut up soda cup for a tool.

Just a note about rear seal installs. The flywheel bolt torque is 47 lbs and every bolt enters the oily side of the engine. So a thread sealant needs to me applied to every bolt. Not sealing these threads creates a hell of a leak that ruins any clutch. Also that sell just posted thats less than u haul is the oem single lip rubber seal. The seal most use now is a teflon double lip with the speedi sleeve installed in it. The instructions tell you to install both the sleeve and the seal as one piece. Removing the seal from the sleeve ruins it. Also they install dry on the sleeve or they leak.. Well thats not really true. I installed my sleeve with a sealant on the crank. Sealant applied also to the outside of the seal body. then a very light film of grease on the actual seal lips. No leaks is 8 years. I'm not saying I know more than the engineers but this is what worked well for me. If you remove the seal plate it goes together easier too. Just make very sure the surfaces are clean especially in the corners where 3 flanges meet up. Those tiny areas are where the leaks happen because the RTV can't work in a greasy area. There is a paper gasket under the seal plate but really... Do we need one.. Nope. Out oil pan is strictly a no gasket item. Only RTV makes it work and its unbeatable.
