Does the way this previous owner hooked up the boost gauge work?

The red highlighted line is connected to the boost gauge that the previous owner installed. Is this a viable way to do it? Im not getting any movement on the gauge. I have read about the circled in blue pipe plug on the intake snail. Should I switch it to that spot? 1994 factory turbo f350.

Pretty much the same, ugly? Perhaps.
The gauge is suspect, try feeding it regulated psi, 5-10psi observe the gauge.

They tapped it into the wastegate line. Yes it would work, but yeah, ugly. I put mine on the port you highlighted blue. Sounds like your gauge is a dud

Ok so i think the guage is good. I haven't had a chance to do what @Clb suggested yet. I will do that soon. I noticed the hose to the waste gate and metal line were all really loose. I removed the ugly t fitting and put in a new rubber hose with good constant tension clamps and new fittings into the turbo. I also relocated the boost gauge fitting the intake snail. Now I've got some movement on my boost gauge. Not even one psi but Its moving now when it wasn't. So i think I have boost leaks. I did see A LOT of soot around the manifold to the downpipe slip fitting.

Fix boost leaks, I bet that fixes the gauge.

My 093 had the wastegate set at #3 psi.
Why? I dunno!

So it doesn't need much to kill the movement at that psi.
Now making #15, you might loose a few psi...

I would test the gauge first before looking for big leaks. These turbos make boost pretty easily, even with some small leaks. Make sure the wastegate is held closed.
