Loaded weight was 8220 and unloaded was 6040 that's with me, a couple tools, and full fuel tanks. Still battling leaking injector o rings they are an absolute nightmare but it handled that like a champ. I also towed my single axle tool trailer loaded to the 9s up a steep grade and I had to spend some time in 3rd. Smoked like an absolute train. It hardly smokes at all unloaded even when I get into it but loaded she will really lay it down

One brand of O ring seems to seal the bottom one better so it’s working again. I also got spontaneously evicted from my house/shop and started a new welding job. So I got all my tools back into my tool trailer and I am aggressively selling off a lot of my Datsun trucks/parts.

This new job is my first professional welding job (I used to be in computers) but here’s a photo of my first welds at work. I am just getting goin professional so I have a ways to go in weld quality just thought I’d share.

Sorry about your luck my dude, but at least your welds look clean as hell. You'll do well.

I replaced my steering Y link, my tie rods, tie rod ends, front brake hoses, adjusted my read brakes and sanded the shoes, took 6 degrees camber out of one front wheel on the alignment rack and replaced my front wheel bearings and races they we CHUNKY just shards left in there. Apparently I have a Dana 44 and I am also still batteling some return side fuel leaks leaks. Sometimes the factory gauge says 0PSI oil at idle but it does not make weird noises so some kind of gauge could be in the future and also my glow plug wire harnes is bad. Sorry about the lack of photos I don’t have my own shop anymore so I am always in a hurry borrowing shop space off others.

All the O Rings we purchase, no matter the vendor, probably all come from China.

I just put in an order to McMaster-Carr for 2 bags of 50
O Rings size 111 Viton.
$9.58 pack of 50 X 2 = $19.16
$10.87 ship
$0.1.36 Tax
$31.39 total.

One of the above posts you were messing with the FSV. What was Ford thinking to put it behind the front of the forward tank on the Frame rail? I decided to move mine a foot forward 1/2 way between the tank and trans X mount.
There is a hole in the frame size of one of the bolts, bolted FSV on, rotated it to see how to line it up for the plug to clear things. Drill new hole and then you will have splice the nylon fuel lines.

These FSV are troublesome, been that way since these trucks were new. here is a YT Vid of a guy taking one apart, easy to do, I took 2 apart to see how they tick.
I used a small Diamond pointed bit on my Dremmel to take off the rivet heads, then punch them out.
One was a ford Part with their logo etc... made by Pollack. when I dissasembled it and pulled the motor and circuit boards, the motor is made in China.

I haven`t taken the front with the nipples apart yet to see how the valve part works yet.

You are doing a great job getting the old girl up and running.

I had an issue where someone drilled out a rivet on the frame cross member next to the steering box and halfway stuck a bolt in but did not tighten it down so the steering box was moving the entire frame rail section when I tried to steer. So on lunch break today I welded all of that together no more frame flex! Steering is a lot better on the freeway and what not. Also the cruise control works! I am wondering if the plastic on my return line cap may be scored or something maybes it’s not an o ring issue.

Also please note this is not a “should you weld to your frame or not” discussion thread there is lots of threads other places devoted to discussing that, I welded my cross member to my frame while I was on lunch break at the metal fabrication shop I professionally weld at all day long using 035 wire out of a Lincoln power mig which is more than sufficient for the job.

No matter what someone's opinion may be on welding a frame. I think this is much safer than doing nothing would have been.

I had a headache rack I made for my last truck out of scrap metal and I adapted it for my 6.9 as the bed on the 6.9 is 2.25 inches wider. Now I just have to modify my custom toolbox setup for the new truck.

Custom fabricated toolboxes modified and installed today, getting the easy stuff done first. If I had a fuel gauge or I could start my truck from inside the truck that would be pretty cool but all in good time.

Based on the recent thread on burning NEW motor oil as fuel I was inspired to throw half a quart of new 10-30 synthetic Mobil 1 in my tank cause I figured it wouldn’t hurt anything and it’s free fuel. The difference it made was unbelievable! When I first pulled my truck out of the mud it had 10+ year old fuel in it and it idled very smooth almost like a gas V8 and as I drove it the idle got very rough like all the other idis and 7.3 powerstrokes I have been around well the motor oil cured that!!!!! Half a quart later in the fuel tank it idles like a dream and has great power again.
